I know it's heresy but I actually haven't liked Morena in anything she's done since Serenity. I thought the shows just weren't giving her any material but at some point I gotta question her. I'd actually rather see Cobie Smulders get a shot.

It doesn't help that the only show I know Cobie Smulders from is How I Met Your Mother and Morena did a guest spot on there that was pretty bad. So, if they can get a good performance out of Cobie but not Morena

I've never really seen Morena outside of Firefly (well, one skit as a Transvestite on Sunny), but I don't know any of the others at all, so she's got my vote.

I meant IRL, I get that impression of her from her off-the-cuff remarks in interviews.

The only person I'd ever accuse of not being able to act is Keanu Reeves, and even that works for him sometimes. Whether an actor or actress gives a good performance is affected by a number of factors, some of them audience subjective.

A lot of it comes down to the director, which in this case will be Joss, who has a proven record with Morena.

(You can take the best actor on the planet and give them to a lousy director, and they won't be able to act their way out of a paper bag. See the Star Wars prequels.)

While maybe not the best:

I've always thought Ewan McGregor was a pretty good actor. Samuel L. Jackson and Christopher Lee aren't shabby either. Natalie Portman is up for an Oscar this year.

And while certainly not the best, some of Hayden Christenson's early (pre-SW) stuff is pretty good --definitely better than his Anakin, at any rate. Good enough to see why the casting director would've picked him.

There was certainly a lot of buzz on this on Friday! I hope she gets it. It may not be a huge role, but it would be very visible! If the movie does well, it would set her up for better roles in the future.

Which doesn't sound good for Morena since the first article said Morena was the first to read of the role. So, if Cobie is now in the lead that would probably mean Morena is out. Don't hate me. I'm just the happy messenger.
