It should work fine on a Mac. The thing to be sure of is that you're not trying to play the .torrent file. That's the file that enables you to download the .avi teaser. If you need more information on torrents, start at http://bitconjurer.org/BitTorrent/

If you successfully download the .avi, but still can't play it with Quicktime, try VLC which you can download at http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/14738

I'm in the process of downloading, so I can't verify for myself that it works yet, but I'll report in when I'm done.

I assume one reason the trailer isn't offical yet is because the hue and contrast looks differently in various clips. The color hasn't been corrected yet. Parts of it seemed at little too yellow or green from what I remember.

The server hasn't maxed out on connections since I put the video up, so I'd say it's a problem with your connection.

Actually--the audience applause at the end is what does it for me.Almost as good as seeing the trailer in an audience full of Firefly fans!

A couple questions: There's one scene where it looks like Inarra gets shot in the gut and goes down--but it happens very quick. Anyone catch this, or am I seeing things?

Also, there's a scene where a figure is standing against an open sky (there are also what appears to be vertical wooden beams of some construct) and the figure seems to teleport from the right side of the screen to the left. Is this a bad cut, or what--can anyone make it out?

It's exciting to see we're a step closer to the movie and all, but I really couldn't hear or see much from that clip. I'm sure the camera person did the best he/she could, but I can't wait for the trailer to be officially released.

Someone previously posted that it looks like Inara got shot. I couldn't tell if it was Inara or River, or even Kaylee. Or just some random woman. At the end, the same woman says either "Reaver" or "River" as far as I could tell.

The only thing that I did see clearly (besides that this is gonna be a kickass BDM), was River doing a Jet Li/Spiderman thing up against the ceiling, looking like she was about to get medieval on someone. Looks interesting.

WOW. You're right about the teleportation. Very strange. Perhaps I'm going to have to add the Psionic Teleportation sphere from Traveller to Neverwinter Nights Firefly after all (didn't think it fit with River's abilities). Or it IS probably just a cutting issue.

And someone goes down in the cargo bay from a shot - not sure if it's Inara (very dark).

First - I think it looks like River. I just get that because I think it's her at the end that says 'Reavers', and it looks like she could be in the same spot she was when she fell. *shrugs*

Second question - It does look weird. I slowed it down but still couldn't tell. Very odd.

I spent three minutes screaming and jumping in joy after watching this. Just so incredible.

It is River and she says Reavers while lying on the ground. It's not teleportation IMHO. It just a clip of her walking from point A to point B with the middle edited it out. It's probably an illusion or mind trick.

Yes, in addition to the jump cut, (i assume it's just Joss being, what he calls in his commentary "arty-farty") the vertical beams are part of a swingset that happens to also be on fire...

I hate to say it, but I don't like the look of the movie. I mean, that doesn't even look like Firefly. It's like they took the actors from Firefly, put them in a sci-fi/horror movie, and gave the characters the same name. I really hope that the small portion of the movie that's shown in the teaser is the exception, not the rule. Either way, though, I'm a little less excited about the movie now than I was before I watched it. If you haven't seen the teaser yet, then take my advice and don't.

I don't know how familiar you are with bootlegs, but point blank they're very rarely indicative of the film's actual look. Color, contrast, etc. are likely to be completely different.

I personally was blown away. What impresses me the most is that the people who saw it at Comic-Con remembered all the did. It moves FAST.

I also like the more cinematic angles and stuff they used. It's less intimate than the show, but it's also more epic. It's like going from "Gunsmoke" to "Once Upon a Time in the West."

And even though the bridge is clearly a bit different, the shot of Wash piloting is from the angle that we almost ALWAYS watched Wash pilot from. Perfect.

Didn't really get a good feel of the bank scene. Zoe's line didn't play quite right to me, but I'm sure it'll be better in context.

And damn, River! Truly a starchild; she practically glows even in the low-res.

I think the trailer looks great. To me if it looked identical to the series then it wouldn't be movie and the washed out brown look of the clip I think works very well it gives it a very authentic old west feel. Though the washed look of the trailer is no doubt due to the way the trailer was filmed at the comic-con. It is also important to note that the way a trailer comes across to a viewer compared to the finished film can be completely different.

All in all for an early teaser trailer that was quickly thrown together this looks Amazing.

My excitement level has just doubled and I was already very excited

Silly as it souds, when I want to see the best detail on my computer screen, I turn off all the lights and watch at night...

Also, try adjusting the brightness and contrast on your monitor.

I agree with 2by2' assesment of where river is.

Question i have, is she physically there or in her mind as in the begining of Bushwacked when she says "it's a ghost" but is not on the ship that was hit by Reavers.
She just senses it.

Also yes that is River at the end and she does say "Reavers" kind of like in Bushwacked again. It is also River who gets knocked down not Inara. Not sure if she is shot or it is an impact of some kind physical or maybe even mental/psychic?

CGREALMS Zoe's line at the bank to me seems like sarcasm directed at Mal like there was supposed to be tons of cash in that vault but once opened there was only chumpchange so she says "At last we can retire and give up this life of crime" as if to say wow twenty bucks and change were rich...NOT!

Two tools every Mac user should have:

-A Bittorrent client. There are several on Versiontracker.com, do a search. Azureus is a good one.

-MPlayer OSX. Can play most file formats without extra codecs. Only real problem is that it can't handle Real files, and some types of WMV.

Never in my life has a trailer elicited such a reaction from me. The hair on my neck stood on end, my heart raced, I couldn't stop giggling crazily, and by the end, my hands were shaking and I had tears in my eyes because I hadn't blinked once.

I openly admit I have a problem. A Terrible and Wonderful Addiction to Firefly. There is no cure except to watch the series over and over until the Big Damn Movie comes out, then I have to go to the theatre and see it again and again until it comes out on DVD, then I have to purchase multiple copes for every house I might be in (mine/grandma's/cousins) whenever I get a hankering for Firefly.

I'm still bouncing in my chair and I fear this silly grin may never leave my face.

I was actually there for this and don't remember anyone getting shot in the trailer. But it went by so fast and I was kinda in a daze. I'm downloading it right now to watch again. Hmmm I wonder if I can hear myself clapping. I guess it depends what screen it was filmed from. (2 screens in the room)

Just a quick question. How many people here knew Joss Whedon had a clear purple backpack? I found it strange, but hey he is strange.

After watching the video I realized 2 things. I'm pretty sure that was River goign down and the person filming the video was sittign right in front of me. :) Shiny

The server is busy as you can imagine. Within 2 hours of my posting the links the server was maxed out at it's 24 connection limit. It's been there ever since.

All I can tell you is to keep trying.

TIP: I know my web server doesn't like several of the download tools with resume like flashget and others I can't think of right now. Using your plain ol' browser to download the file(s) will yield the best results.

I can't see it!! I've downloaded the avi version from the torrent, but if I play in in Windows Media Player, I only get the sound. If I play it in Quicktime, I get the picture, but no sound.

It sadly won't work on the divx player either..I need an MJPG codec or something? I've done a search on google, and I haven't had much luck :(

Try downloading the latest version of windows media player. I just reformatted an older computer and downloaded the latest WMP and it worked without adding any codecs. Also worked on the NERO player.

BTW the picture looks 5X brighter/better on a CRT than an LCD

For anyone wishing to run this on DIVX I did find a Codec that worked. go to

http://codecs.necromancers.ru/

and download the MJPEG codec. First you NEED to extract the file from the zipped folder then open up the mmx folder, then right-click on the file MCMJPEG
"setup information" (should be the one on the left) and click INSTALL.

Worked for me for DIVX version 5

Woo, finally got it from the site posted earlier, after loads and loads of timeouts (some at heartbreaking amounts of 90%+). I also spotted it (at least, I assume it was it) on Kazaa, but before I got much progress on it my other download finally completed.

The trailer itself... ehh, the poor quality kind of hurt my enjoyment (I could barely really see or hear what was going on most of the time), but I liked seeing the cheers and the mere fact that it _does_ exist.

I think September might be too early seeing as they are wrapping the shoot late August. I am thinking early next year or even late this year. You never know though it just might be late September just to keep us Browncoats happy. They are already advertising shows for next Summer and such. We can hope. =-)

Hmm, I noticed something interesting...

At about the 42-44 second mark, where Serenity is being chased by another ship... and fired upon... by a shipboard laser? Not complaining, just thought it kinda kewl that we finally see what appears to be a ship-mounted laser in action.

Also, the movie quality VASTLY improves if you turn off all the lights, play it fullscreen, and crank the monitor brightness to about three-quarters/four-fifths of maximum.

Does Blue Sun sponser the Blue Man Group?

Just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU to those responsible for posting and propagating this. Being in the UK, I thought I had no chance of ever seeing the teaser, but I was wrong and it's been such a treat. Even though it's difficult to make out, the footage still gave me goosebumps. I felt like cheering when "Next Spring... They're Back" came up. Awesome!

Amusingly, my friend at work who is also a Browncoat (I converted him, as he sits next to me it was only a matter of time...) logged on to FFF.net over the weekend and saw the teaser was up before me, so I had to suffer him going on about having seen it all day in the knowledge that I wouldn't be able to download it myself until I got home! Torture, but at least it heightened the anticipation even more.

Does anyone have a link that isn't torrent. I can't download torrent onto my grandmothers computer which is the only computer I can download on because she will string me up, hang me from my neck and leave me outside as a warning to others. I can download any other kind of file just not torrent files because of the whole system thing they use. Please someone let me know. my e-mail is rei_ayane@hotmail.com

I knew she was being sarcastic. It was the line's delivery that didn't play right, not the line itself:)

I honestly do not think River is shot. To me its a mix of scenes. River falling isnt from a gunshot but from the overwhelming emotions coming from sensing REAVERS are onboard (before everyone else realizes).
If memory serves right someone that attended it told that Joss said the scenes are not necessarily given in order of how the movie will play out. So I think River is foreseeing the Reavers getting onboard Serenity and attacking Mal who shoots one.....

any ideas?
