One of the amazing things about Firefly is that it resinates with so many different people from different backgrounds, different generations, different beliefs, I think we've got a little of a lot of things on here. That's how you know a really good show, by its ability to reach so many different people.

I'm 32.

How do the old folk do it? Granted I smoke and drink, and in my past I'd done my fair share of illicit substances.... but for 's sake, sometimes I really can't believe that I should feel the way I do in my young 30's. Especially after I shed 55 pounds doing home improvements in the last 5 months and I'm just about 10 pounds to heavy to have my bling'n six pack back.

The joints.... the joints... the joints.....

Not to mention the undiagnosed carpal tunnel syndrome I'm sure I have from playing Atari with their BS joysticks way too much when I was a kid, and then getting into careers where I either typed a lot or used tools......

Sometimes I swear I'm host to a parasite that has been spending the last 2 or 3 years feeding on my cartilage. (I imagine Pac-Man eating away at me looking for power pellets)

Thank heaven I bought that top-line snow blower back in the fall for 30% off. I've only had to use it twice this VERY mild winter, but knowing that it only takes me 30 minutes of following a machine around to plow 8" of snow off the huge driveway is just too good to be true. I stand back and look at it when I'm done and imagine the 3 hours of shoveling by hand I'd have to do for the same results and how my back would hurt so bad the next day I couldn't get out of bed.

Haha... watching X-Files in its entirety recently, I couldn't believe that David Duchovney was my age now when the show started and Gillian Anderson was like 6-8 years younger than I am now. When I was 13 and that show came out they both seemed so much older than me. Just because I'm 32 now, it doesn't seem like things should be so different.

Not to intentionally be cliche, but live your life to the fullest. Don't waste a ton of time like I did, and admittedly, still do a lot of. I might be living "the dream" now, so to speak, and at a younger age than most could ever hope for, but it came at a huge price. I spent 5 years nearly in solitude outside of work saving every penny I could, and I'm afraid that even if I was making big bucks again in the future that I'll never be the "social butterfly" I used to be. I'm not categorically Agoraphobic now, but short of a bi-monthly several hour visit with family or friends, I definitely have no need for in-person contact outside of working a job when the internet is out there. I think it would take a lot of work on my part to get back into anything resembling a real social life.

I have friends that are underwater on their mortgage and in credit card debt up to their gray hair, but sometimes I still find myself really admiring their life.

Here's hoping for a "rebirth". The house is coming along brilliantly and I should have a decent job soon. I'm hoping spending a lot of hours making money for somebody else performing my "decent job" will encourage me to enjoy my off time a lot more than I do when I don't have to work for anyone else.

Once I hit about 22 or 23 I saw no point in getting older, gaining experience points sure, but the getting older part seemed unnecessary, there can be only one! :)

I've had much longer posts. See my "Anybody" thread lol....

"Experience Points", huh? Man... I was born like 6-8 years to early. While I was in High School, I would never even imagine a girl, even in the cesspool of popularity hierarchy would even say the words "experience points" as I came home from school and played Final Fantasy II on SNES.

FFXII was awesome, although I was so OCD about it that real life issues came up before I could finish it in my OCD, must-get-100%-everything way....

Still, FFX, even though it's system is so outdated now that it's boring to even revisit, was by far my favorite story in the mythology. I'll admit to you (don't tell anyone else) that the end of FFX made me a little weepy eyed.

As for my bro... thanks for asking. :)

No news is good news. I don't pry into that situation. I know it's delicate since my Dad will do whatever it takes to make him self-sufficient and my step-mom is inconvenienced by the whole thing, and rightfully so.

He's successfully on the food stamp debit card, which is the easiest thing to get. He has a state-employed psychiatrist that vouches that he's incapable of working most jobs. Not because he's mentally or physically incapable, but because he's socially inept.

I've got plenty of room for him in my new house. If he was ever "better" and I wouldn't' feel like I had to play his 24/7 shrink, I'd be willing to take him in if his bills were paid for by the government. Not a dime going to me with this, mind you...

I just don't think he'd be happy here. There are no trains or regular bus routes, and he can't drive on his own. Given all of his shortcomings, he's a brilliant photographer and loves going downtown Chicago to make new art.

I played the Powerball at 175Mil toninght. Here's hoping, right?

I tend not to read the "Anyone" thread anymore because its so long and home improvement doesn't interest me much. I'm glad that you'd be willing to keep your brother if necessary, it sounds like he likes being in the city though so that's a good place for him right now. As for a job maybe sometime in future he could have one, he might be able to start volunteering soon and that can be really fun and helps the world a lot. I'm assuming he and your dad are still living together?

I can't play videogames so no I don't play ff, it took me a second to figure out what you meant by ff since I'm so used to thinking of Firefly as ff. :)
