Hello everyone,

Huon here. I was watching Firefly again, and something in me snapped. There is no earthly reason why this show is not on the air right now! I have a plan that will 100% work.

As we've said in the poll, over 22000 of us would spend $100 a year to see Firefly revived. Now we can't necessarily give the money directly, but we can do better.

Here is what we can do to bring Firefly back within the year:

On September 20, 2012, show the networks that Browncoats everywhere are serious. We love Firefly, and we are prepared to express it in a big way. On September 20, 2012, we will all go out and purchase multiple DVD/Blu-ray copies of Firefly and Serenity. We will give them to our friends and hold marathons of the series.

Everyone, go out to your local store and tell them to be stocked and prepared. Email distributors. Remind the networks they can't stop the signal.

In the meantime, please sign this petition! In the past day, we've picked up about 200 new signatures.

You missed april fool's by a few days.

I assume your 100% guarantee comes with a money back clause and you will refund anyone who participates in this if Firefly does not come back within the year.

If we all rally, they will take notice, and don't you just want an excuse to get a friend a copy of Firefly if they haven't seen it?

Unfortunately, Huon...that's what a lot of us have been doing for the last ten years... Every time my copy of Serenity got a scratch we just bought a new one, and I've given away a couple sets of FF...

I think most of us have come to the conclusion that money doesn't actually talk... I think it has more to do with timing and a fickle Hollywood's inclinations than anything... But I commiserate with yer snapping...Most people here just get sad I think, but I snap all the time. It absolutely drives me crazy that we have no say, as crazy determined as we all have been, you would think something has gotta give. I'm a firm believer that if you want something bad enough all you have to do is keep at it, but it seems FF is the exception to that rule.

I would love to DO something big for September, but I admit I'm not good at organizing people, and after ten years most I think most flans are reticent to put much energy into anything, since our efforts have come to naught so much lately.

I don't know where we're going- or why we're in this handbasket- but I'm still holding on for the chance of one hell of a ride...

I still think the best bet is to do something impressive at DragonCon at about the same time. Such as a flashmob reenactment of the Battle of Serenity Valley, as interpreted by some variation of laser tag.

Serenity is returning! And nobody had to petition Zack Whedon to write the comic executive produced by Joss Whedon! Sometimes good things just happen without fan participation, which applies to the original Firefly.

We are nearly up to 1000 signatures.

Personally, I am looking for the excuse to spend some of my hard-earned money to support Joss Whedon. He reliably creates stories that are complex and insightful. I will be buying several copies of Firefly in Blu-ray anyway. Let's make a huge statement and have Firefly hit #1 sales again in it's 10 year anniversary.

You want to make a huge statement? A plan that will be harder for Hollywood to ignore is one that sends the money directly to Joss Whedon's agent, bypassing the retail middlemen. You buy more attention in Hollywood with a $1000 bribe than from buying a gross of Serenity Blu-ray/DVD combos at $8.49 each from Amazon.

The sooner Joss' agent sees a suitcase full of unmarked hundred dollar bills, the sooner we see Serenity II.

All I know is that I've bought approximately 15 Firefly DVD sets, 3 Firefly Blu-Ray Sets, multiple copies of all Serenity releases, both DVD and Blu-Ray, plus multiple copies of all the comics, all the visual companions and essay books, as well as T-shirts and a lot of the QMX offerings, and yet we still have not gotten anything extra in the way of filmed content. What more can I do?

At this point the only thing that will likely get us more is if a Browncoat wins the lottery and donates a portion of their proceeds to Joss.

I do hope Joss Whedon was only being witty yesterday when he answered this remark on Reddit :
Just an idea. Put Firefly season 2 up as a project on Kickstarter and see how much money you can get to buy the rights and make it happen.

Joss Whedon answers:
Step 2: Cancel Castle. Step 3: Cancel Homeland. Step 4: Generally destroy everybody's careers. Step 5: Avoid Step 2. End of Joss' comment.

There needs to be a Step 0: Joss signs the petition. Until that happens, everything else is futile.

I say if we increase the number of signatures we increase the number of signatures, but let's set clear benchmarks and work from there. There is no reason why this shouldn't work.

I am itching to buy 10 copies of Firefly and just give them as presents to any of my friends who haven't seen the series yet. Pay it forward! Buy a friend Firefly and, if she/he likes it, then pass it along. I would just love to see how high we can boost the sales in that week, and see Firefly hit number 1 in the charts on it's 10th anniversary week.

But, yeah, if Joss Whedon says anytime in between now and then that he would rather take donations, then I'll happily do that instead. This way though, you support the DVD/Blu-ray sales and spread the popularity by giving out the series as well. Win-win! Good luck everyone!

Believe it or not, that's been my plan since it was cancelled. I would take it one step further, I would establish and incorporate a film production company - it's main purpose - get Firefly back on air or Serenity 2 & 3. I would also contact other lottery winners ($100M plus winners) to ensure that we get the original cast plus all our favs - Saffron, Jubal, Badger, Monty, Niska, hell even that captain who briefly took over Serenity in OoG.

Here's to the next multi-million dollar lottery winner being a Browncoat!
