I ran this poll last April. It was very exciting to the end, resulting in a 11th hour tie which required a 1 day tie-breaker. We've had many new browncoats sign on since then, so let's give 'em a chance...TO DO IT AGAIN!!

CAST YOUR VOTE: Who is your favorite male AND female Firefly cast member, and why? Is it the Firefly role they play, or the actor him/herself? Feel free to go into as much detail as you wish!

I could listen to Ron Glass talk all day long - just like his voice a lot. So I'm voting for Book.

On the female side... I could LOOK at Morena all day long (and then some). So that vote goes to Inara.

I would have to say Jayne is my favorite male character.

He is a raw manly man whom I can I identfy with. Unlimited potential for growth, simple, and uncomplicated. Once you get past his hard exterior, he has a good heart but doesn't know it. I saw beginnings of personal growth for Jayne in the series. Namely, the guilt he felt for trying to turn Simon and River in to the Alliance.

Kaylee is my favorite female character. She is sweet and unpretentious. She wants lots of attention and i would be willing to give it to her.

Okay, this is tough because I like each of them for very different reasons. But, if I had to choose one male, I'd pick Simon. He is so kind, loyal, gentle, and a little bit socially insecure. There's just a great guy under that prim and proper exterior. He just needs to loosen up a bit. Did I mention he looks great with his shirt off?

A woman... I'd go with Kaylee. Sweet, funny, and she would probably make a great friend.

Mal is my favourite male character, and my favourite character overall. A great captain and a real hero. Plus a complex and interesting character. It is rare for a series lead to be my favourite character, I usually like one of the co-stars better.
My favourite female character is River. She is so sweet and funny, and when she's suffering she breaks my heart. Summer Glau is a great actress, doing well with a demanding role.

Male: Mal. Seeing the first show that aired, I felt an immediate kinship to him, almost brotherly.(Our names are similar too.)
I like the way his character values freedom, and his sense of humor ("Kaylee's dead"), and the undercurrent of emotion he carries regarding the past.

Female: Zoe. She is the greatest! She's on the spot supporting the Captain. I identify with her a lot.

Oh, I so don't like choosing favorites. I love all the characters but I'll play (also didn't get to do this the last time)

Favorite male character: Simon - I like him, he’s not as wussy as his type of character might have been on some other show. Safe also ended up being my I'm-in-love-with-series-realization episode so I vote for Simon.

Favorite female character: Inara – she’s intriguing and we don’t know enough about her.

My vote for female goes to Kaylee, for many reasons. As an actess, I think Jewel is wonderful, and I relate to the character very much. Her knowledge about specific things, her tomboyish nature, etc. Also, she's just plain adorable!

For male, my vote goes to Jayne. I'm a big Adam Baldwin fan, and adore his portrayal of Jayne in Firefly. He also did an amazing job in the role of Hamilton on Angel *g* But as for Jayne, I love his tough-guy attitude, subdued by a side of goofiness :) That and his love for that fluffy hat his mother made him, lmao! And he's a mans man: loves guns, women, and fightin'! All which make for an entertaining character.

Ok, my vote goes to Mal for the male vote. Simply cause I find his character so gorram interesting, and admiting, Nathan Fillion does have a certain roguish charm. ~sighs~

For female,...hmmm, I shall go with Inara since I usually go with River in these types of things. Mainly, I find her character intriguing, mostly her unexplored past and knowing there's more to that cool facade of hers.

Suffice to say, I find certain characteristics from both characters, that I can relate to and maybe that plays part in it. ~shrugs~

Oh, and to...Neroli...I have a feeling on who's gonna win the male vote. ~snicker~

While I am more inclined to be marooned on a desert island with Jayne my vote for favorite Male charcter goes to Book. I so love his willingness to help, his knowledge of all things,and his strength (kneecaps) and vulnerability(fear of dying purple and bloated). And I love his strawberries My favorite female character is any one BUT Inara. I mean she is utterly useless. I don't even think she's that pretty-the thought of kissing someone with that much lipgloss on effects my gag reflexes. "THATS why I never kiss 'em on the mouth." Favorite female character: it's a tie between Inara and River, but if I *had* to choose one, it would have to be River. Summer Glau just plays her so well that I can't help but be fascinated and amazed whenever her character comes on screen.

My favourite male charachter is Mal. Funny, dark, complex, lots of undercurrents. Just the kind of guy I usually fall for. It inevitably ends in tears but that doesn't stop me the next time a dark, funny, complex .... well, you get it.

Female? That would have to be Zoe. Strong, caring and that special brand of deadpan humour. Love it!

My vote has to be with Jayne - hands down. He has a girlie name but he has man parts and is not affraid to show them (listen to him Joss - necked Jayne will make me come and see the filme at least 10 times!). He is a big lug and all he cares about is money and sex and usually I abhore that in charcters but Adam (I play soldiers and FBI guys) Baldwin does it so well I just have to love him. Appart from the spitting at the table, I can't stand that sorry.

Female vote is Zoe also hands down. That Bitch is cold, and obviously Wash brings out a slightly softer side. But I love her loyalty both to Mal and Wash.

Ok, favorite male character, I think I am going to go with Wash, that sense of humor and fun is much like mine, plus I identify with him a lot more than I do with the other male characters.

For the girls my vote without a doubt goes to Kaylee. She's the girl I wish I was!

on the firefly cast my mind is all set, maybe the movie will change things but up til then:

male: Simon
female: Kaylee

and it's so cool that Jayne the dumb oaf isn't winning this time. I love Mal and Wash too but I really don't like Jayne. and Book is creepy, I never liked or trusted him much. I'd not be surprised if he's really a bad guy under cover.

so even if Simon doesn't win, as long as the winner is Mal or Wash I'm happy here.

with the girls I kinda like them all, least of all Zoe but I could even live with her winning, she's kinda cool with her dry sence of humour, like the 'on purpose?' comment in the flashback scene.

JAYNE... the man they call JAYNE!!!
He can brush my hair *anytime* (a la Heart of Gold )
Not only that, but I got to meet Adam (squeee!!!) and he is very nice, down to earth, intelligent, and even *hotter* in person!

As for the ladies, it's a bit harder to choose. Zoe is absolutely kick a@@ and too beautiful for words, but River intrigues me. I can't wait for the BDM 'cause I know it's going to be a very River story. And she can kill me with her brain. Hmmm...
I guess I will have to go with River for the womenfolk.

Maybe that will help inspire more of the Rayne writers to give me more stories!

Have to go with Mal and Kaylee because Nathan and Jewel were such a blast at Dragon*Con. Just wish I could include Adam too, because he was also extremely gracious and fun. But since I HAVE to choose, Nathan wins.
