Hello,

Some explaination on what this thread is about and why I started it. First why I started it, there are several of us fans from the O.B., that is the Origional Board that Fox put up when Firefly premiered, way back in 2002(I think thats the right year), as some of you may know they recently took our board down and without any warning that they were going to do so,(they work for Blue Sun!). We miss being able to post about our favorite man, Mr Adam Baldwin and we miss not knowing what each other was doing. We escaped to Face Book, which we also think is owned by Blue Sun and it finally dawned on us that the best thing to do was start our old thread anew here, I have been here since 2005 and some of the others have been around as long,we stayed over there (the O.B.) hoping by doing so that the board would be kept alive, but you know Fox. When the O.B. was going strong both Adam and Nathan posted all the time and Nathan even posted his 7 Layer Bean Dip receipe over there, it was awesome to post to them and have them post back, Adam was always in the RL threads and kept it real hot in those threads.
Some of us are 'in the know' as to what Adam is doing these days, and we post any news/articles about him in this thread, some of the ladies can find out stuff long before it hits the inter webs. This is not just for us, feel free to join in, tell us how you feel about the awesome Mr B, and also about the man they call "Jayne".

I love Adam, in a brotherly way of course

We don't see eye to eye politically, and we butted heads on a couple of threads on the OB years ago, but I totally respect the man and his principles.

Lucky enough to meet him in Dallas a bit less than a year ago and he was all smiles, happy to be there and meet the fans. When I went for the photo-op he's the one who greeted me warmly with a solid handshake when I entered the booth. I felt like a hobbit standing next to him and I'm 6' tall.

He's got a TNT movie in production called "The Last Ship." It may or may not be heading to series, but hopefully it will get more of a chance than ABC gave "Last Resort."

Hey dude! Glad to see you post in the new thread! Thanks for that information about Adam's new project, and I agree lets all hope it's given a chance.

I agree with you Adam is so kind and down to earth when you meet him, I even got an O.B. Bear Hug from him when he was here in Denver, only the ladies from the O.B. get a Bear Hug, well I haven't hear of anyone else getting a hug except us from the other board. And you are right about him being a tall man! Its so cute that when you get a picture with him he scrunches down so he's close to your height and the picture looks better. With me that was a lot of scrunching, I'm only 5' 1" tall, I have met over half of the stars from the show and Adam is the most fun, he came to our groups shindig and had a few beers with us, and went outside and smoked a fine cigar that one of the guys gave him. Just a real sweetie to be around, he even wanders around the con without so called 'body guards', talks to folks and is a great person all around.
Not many like him.....

Oh yea that is a cool picture, I see you got Sean in there, can I ask where that was taken? Sean is one who (I heard)doesn't 'do' cons very much. I have a group shot of Alan, Jewel & Mark, it was taken at a Creation "Serenity" con 3 yars ago, Vex (Verse Explorer) and I went together to that one. Thats also the one that Nathan was suppose to go, but at the last minute the studios sent him to Canada for something to do with "Castle", but he had made his 7 Layer Bean Dip and Alan brought it from Nathan's house and it got auctioned off anyway, for $300. After the auction, Cindy and I were roaming the halls of the hotel and we found the guy who bought the dip in the lobby of the hotel and I asked if I could have a bite and he was kindly letting folks have some and I got some, I almost yelled "I got dip made by Nathan", but I kept it to a soft roar. Eveybody around me laughted at me, but I was happy. I do wish Nathan could have made it, he is another one thats hard to get to see.

A bump for AB, and no Adam had quit posting, and had got crazy over on Twitter, hes still a huge Twitter fan, and I understand he will Tweet you back sometimes. When Twitter became the "new' thing both Adam and Nathan started Tweeting and didn't come around the board much. When we would see him in person, we always mentioned the O.B., he knew we were trying to keep it going.

I hope you find them without too much trouble. I seem to have messed up my shoulder, it hurts most of the time and I can't move the arm much without is giving me a shooting pain, Web MD said to rest, ice and maybe put it in a sling. I am trying to rest it by having it in a sling, I need to go to the store and get some meds, all I have is aspirin and that doesn't work for muscle sprains. Good thing I can use the left hand as well as the right hand.
Hows the weather up there in Canada? Are you freezing your butt off?

I am glad to hear its not freezing there, we could use some of that WET, we're behind on snow here and the mountains are needing new snow for the ski restorts. Since our water (city of Denver and the entire Front Range as its called) gets their water from snow melt, we need some kind of moisture. Our springs are usually when we get a few good storms,...
I got some ibuprofen, and its some better. I will have to 'baby' it for a few days.

So speaking of Adam, do you follow him on Twitter? I was hopeing that either Lyn or Philippa would post updates from his Tweets,...if they don't I guess I will have to. He is way to political and far Right for me,...JMHO :)

I understand what you mean, hes just such a 'good' person and has respect for others..he is very kind and gentle man also. JMHO, there are a few guys that could learn many things from him,...but the ones who need the lesson, are totally clueless that they need 'schoolin'.

Sorry, I haven't been around, but my shoulder has been bothering me so much that I had to stay off the computer, typing was hurting! I have switched my mouse to a "left-hand" mouse so I can not use the right hand so much. I have been typing with the left hand mostly for 2 days, it really slows ya down.
I did get my pic of me and AB loaded to my Photobucket account and I will get it posted here, when the arm feels better, maybe in a day or two.

Well, I did watch DC Cab over the weekend, what a fun movie.

And I remembered this vid.

I love that even though he was blindsided by the question, he instantly went on to praise his costars from an obscure 30 year old movie. Although, he did seem to mention Bill Maher through gritted teeth.

Out of all the BDHs, I would like to meet him the most.

Nice to see this thread here! So nice to have folks from the OB join us here. :)

I always bump heads with Adam over politics, in fact he tweeted me rather sharply one time! But...he's the warmest sweetest guy to his fans and friends and he can act, oh so well. My Mama says Mal is handsome, but Jayne ( and Adam playing him ), MADE Firefly. :) That's my Mama, not me. ;)

It's always nice to admire Adam and hear news about him. :)

I am heading over to Creation Con's page to see if there's anything there, our local con doesn't have anyone from FF listed so far,...for a while they were bringing somebody from FF regularly.

Picked up a cheap copy of the HBO miniseries "From the Earth to the Moon" over the weekend and have been watching a couple if episodes every night. Guess who pops up?

Thank You Philippa! Do you know if he's going to be 'crossing the pond' this year, so that you and Lyn may get to see him? I checked the Creation Con site, there aren't any FF/Serenity/Buffy Cons on the schedule, if your a Star Trek or Supernatural fan your in luck, there are a whole bunch of them scheduled. The schedule for my local con is almost finished and nobody from FF, so far. They added Amanda Tapping, so I will be going, up to them adding her, I wasn't going to go, they should add at least 2 more folks, so I am hoping maybe Alan, he hasn't been here yet.

Those episodes (it was a two parter) weren't just great SG episodes they were great television, period.

I love Adam's character in it, I wish they had been able to work his team into the show at least a couple of more times. IIRC, he had been up for a part in Atlantis, but that didn't work out. I figure that was for the best since that probably would have kept him from being in Chuck.

Thanks very much Cindy for that link, I've book marked it so I can check it from now on. That is a fantastic list of cons and I also looked at the Dr Who cons that are coming up, looks like everybodys going to Australia later this year. I saw that they had my local con listed for Ben Browder,...but I am more interested in seeing Amanda Tapping, Ben is way to energized for me.

I understand where you're coming from about Creation con, the ONLY reason I went to the one con of theirs was NATHAN was suppose to be there. But the studio or someone from the show(Suits) called him to go back to Canada for some reason, and Alan ended up bringing the 7 Layer Bean Dip Nat had made to auction off for charity. Nathan DID call and Alan put him on speaker phone so we could say "Hi" and we could hear him talk to us. But it wasn't the same as getting to see him and getting a autograph and a picture with him. I feel like that was my one chance to see him, because he doesn't do cons like Adam does.

Philippa, I am too broke for Dragon Con and its so big I do not feel comfortable there, but I hope you have a great time.

Okay, our road is iced and snowed over so we're pretty much stuck at home. We decide to invite the neighbors over for dinner and to hang out.

While the ladies are making dinner, the other fellow and I play some Call of Duty on my PS3. He is impressed by the HD tv and I tell him we can watch a movie on bluray after we eat.
I show him my admittedly sparse bluray collection and tell him to pick something (secretly hoping he'll pick Serenity).

Guess what he picks.

You know, I haven't even been actively trying to watch Adam related shows (except DC Cab), they've just been popping up.

I think this thread has started some sorta weird curse on me.

Moose, JMHO, thats not a bad curse, Adam's works are usually pretty good to watch...some of the films where he had a small part are not the most entertaining, but its ruff out there in the 'Verse and scrappers have to take what they can get sometimes.
I'm doing a FF marathon this week-end, I haven't done that in a long time,...God I wish we could get it back. :)

To head off the curse , I went ahead and watched the Full Metal Jacket documentary, Between Good and Evil.

It you're a fan of the movie, it is a must see.

I've been lucky enough to meet Adam several times. He has been kind, generous with his time and a good listener every time. He also has a mischievous twinkle in his eyes sometimes [GG]. He's great with kids and is extra gentle when he encounters anyone who is nervous in his presence.

When relaxed at the bar and 'holding court' he seems to enjoy asking penetrative questions and making challenging statements, apparently just to see what happens!

Even though he plays an utterly despicable character, you can't help but like him a bit. He is just a man trying to stay true to his loyalties, but that forces him to do horrible things. You kinda hope he survived the war and moved to the frontier to avoid the backlash from his neighbors...maybe even changing his name...to something like Cobb.

Plus, it's Adam! How can you not like him?

I haven't been here due to many problems, one of my cats got sick and I spent lots of time with her, but she died and I was very sad for a while, the local con happened and I had a few things to do for it and finally my sister decided to come and visit. I do wish somebody had posted in this thread for the 2 weeks I was out of touch, I guess it wasn't important for anybody to do so.

Life is going relatively smoothly, just a few bumps and potholes here and there fortunately.

ID4 was another one of my "curse" movies, my boys had seen Battleship and wanted to watch another Alien Invasion movie. I had forgotten Adam had a supporting role in it. First thing I thought when he appeared, "Yep, here's another post for the Adam thread."

So, I've been watching Continuum on Netflix.
I'm rather impressed with Rachel Nichols'....acting.

I go looking for other stuff she's been in and find The Inside.
Not only is she starring in it, Tim Minear is the show runner with Jane Espenson and Ben Edlund doing some writing.

Oh, and this guy costars.

From the couple of episodes I've seen, it is a pretty good show.
It, unfortunately, is another victim of FOX. Only aired 7 episodes, with 6 more made.

I actually am impressed by Ms. Nichols' ability to carry a show. I've previously only seen her in GI Joe and Star Trek and had assumed she pretty much was just eye candy.
