Firsties!

Big Suck and summer is here. You know I don't even mind the heat & humidity. Any day in the saddle is a good day.

H.O.G. event went well Saturday Sister. Good turn out, good food grilled up, biker games were a lot of fun, and the weather was sunny and warm without being too hot. Lots of skilled riders in our ranks showing off their fine control in the barrel roll and slow race. All in all a good time. Ice cream run later in the day so we put some miles on the bikes.

Hump Day EVE! Another 'blister' of a day…getting lots done in the early, early mornings because by 11 a.m. it's too stink in HOT out there. I am yearning for a plunge pool just to 'water buffalo' in on these hot and humid days.

You know a pool to jump in to cool off is not a bad idea. Maybe one of those cheap inflatable kiddie deals that you can sit in the shade, fill it, fall into it to cool off, then hop out and back to work. May have to look into that.

Summer is settling in here too. 95 today with 45% humidity. Tomorrow is supposed to be 100 with 50% humidity. Still, I love the heat because it means I can ride!

Stay cool out there Sister. Think of me this afternoon cause I have to cut the lawn and it will be toasty. LOL

Hey…Browncoat1; hope you didn't melt mowing the lawn!! Our 'yard boy' is on vacation until the weekend so things are getting quite 'weedy' here if you need another place to mow..heh.
I'd do that kiddie pool in a second…if it weren't for a certain Rottweiler who lives to eat plastic. Hmmmm…maybe in the front yard?…Nope, I'd be way too embarrassed!!

Didn't melt, but looked like someone had dumped a bucket of water on me. Nothing a cool shower couldn't cure. I'd offer to mow your lawn, but TN might be a bit of a commute.

It's another hot one here; got the garden watered yesterday and had a great dinner at a new Mexican restaurant; too many Margaritas, though…if there is such a thing!!

Rained heavy here last night so no need to water the garden. ;) Unfortunately it also means the grass is growing like crazy. Ugh. Supposed to be good chance of rain Saturday and Sunday so no riding most likely. Not cool. They are calling for the temp to drop into the 80s though, so that is an upside to the rain I suppose.

Got a new seat for the bike. The standard seat is great for short trips, but a bit less than "comfortable" for longer road trips. Had two so far and I was a bit saddle sore by the end of each. Hopefully this new Sundowner will eliminate that issue.

Saturday!!
Heh…the 'seat' issue!! I recall several years ago my husband decided to ride from TN down to Key West, Fla…have a hamburger at Sloppy Joe's then ride home! Apparently on the ride back…his butt got so sore, he stopped at a horse outfitters and got a saddle blanket that he bungeed to the seat, for a more comfortable ride! We still have that blanket around here someplace.
I hope you get your knees in the breeze in between rain storms…

Sunday..
I got to watch a wonderful thunderstorm yesterday; the skies darkened…the big trees started swaying in the strong wind…cracks of thunder got closer and closer and then the skies opened and lashes of rain poured down!! The whole thing lasted just half an hour but I felt so privileged to watch and feel it!!

Seat worked out great Sister. Got a Sundowner Tall Boy that has twice as much padding and actually moved me back about an inch or so giving me a tad more room to stretch the ol' legs. Got it put on Saturday afternoon and got to test it out with an hour long ride Sunday. Definitely makes a huge difference. Got to test it out on a longer ride this coming weekend.

We had dark, looming clouds all day Saturday and Sunday, but it never rained. Still the temps cooled into the mid 80s giving us some relief from the heat.

Big Suck is here, but about half over now. Let's not focus on it and maybe it will just go away.

July the ONETH! Yesssss on that holiday weekend! In TN our weather pukes (those who vomit up a forecast) are calling for storms tomorrow then a break in the heat and humidity for Thursday and Friday. They are not to be believed, however…I think they make up a good-sounding forecast so people won't commit mass suicide in the heat.

Nope. Well no decent rain to speak of anyway. Got one brief little shower that was less than an eighth of an inch of rain and the ground was dry again in less than 30 minutes due to the heat. It did help to cool things off at night dropping us into the high 60s low 70s so we could open the house up and night and cut off the AC.

Best thing about Tuesday? It's not Big Suck! LOL

This morning I set a dog bowl full of ice cubes outside in hopes of keeping the polar vortex here! Got a HUGE amount of outdoor stuff done yesterday as it was so lovely. The cool air just energizes me!!

Vikings is still filming season 3 in Ireland right now. Filming wraps in August and I believe they premiere in February.

Liked the fact that it was 62 this morning when I got on the bike and I had to put on a hoodie for the ride to work. Mid to high 80s here today and low humidity. Pretty nice for July.

So Vegas was nice. 109 degrees, but with no humidity it was bearable. Definitely better than 90 degrees and 45% humidity!

Autumn had fun at her pageant. While she may not have placed she gained a great deal of knowledge and experience and as she moves from being a delegate to a director that will prove very valuable to her for preparing her girls for their run at nationals. She will be able to run several states and give up her current job (which she hates) to pursue her passion and make money at something she loves. Glad one of us can. LOL

80s in Virginia? High 50s in the mornings? In JULY?!? Thanks Polar Vortex! 4th morning this month I had to wear a hoodie on the ride into work. Made for a nice afternoon to cut the grass yesterday and working outdoors after work.

Yesterday was nice here. Mid 80s, low humidity and cloudy. Today? Wet, rainy, humid as Hell, and high 80s. Rest of the week is supposed to be clear, sunny and mid to high 80s. Sure hope so. Not riding today sucked.

At least things are mildly calm and quiet w/ the boss out this week. Keep your fingers crossed they stay that way.

Yep, halfway to the weekend! Week seems to be passing fast. Got a fair amount of rain yesterday, even had flooding in some areas. Today has been sunny and warm, though luckily not too humid. Made for a nice ride in this morning.

Great on the university; clawing in and all! Get that brain all soaked with knowledge!
I just check in every day or so to keep our thread up top..sometimes it might get a bit boring (and annoying, I'm sure) but I make no apologies!
Browncoat 1 and I have been with the 76th since the beginning…marched in a bunch of parades and it's just nice to check in.
Hope you'll do the same!!

Friday and beautiful here today! Sunny, low 80s, low humidity and rode to work today. Can't wait to get back in the saddle this afternoon.

MAJOR big rains overnight and this morning!! We've got a lake and white water river out front; yeah, it's big suck AGAIN. But at least the building site is out of the flood range, so that's a good thing!

Sounds like your weather is heading our way Sister. Starting around 1pm today we have a 40 of thunderstorms, but it goes up to 75% chance by 6pm. Forecast is showing rain every day this week except Thursday.

At least the heat has stayed down, though the humidity has started creeping back up again. Got the grass and all cut yesterday so if it rains I am at least ahead of it for a week.

Hump Day Eve…
Hope you didn't get the monsoons we did, Browncoat1…at least the construction site at our place hasn't washed away! The crew expanded and deepened a ditch near the structure that worked to save the foundation..since that was the highest we've seen the water in 14 years…we'll be okay.
Hope everybody is surviving storms.

Rained fairly heavy most of the day Monday, but not monsoon level. Rained last night, but nothing so far today. Been a 40% chance all day, but just heavy clouds looming overhead. Supposed to be a 70-80% chance starting around 4pm, just in time to make the commute home suck. *sighs* Ah well, nothing for it but to do it, right?

Supposed to be partly sunny and no rain tomorrow so I can get the Harley back on the road. Keep your fingers crossed.

Glad the crew was able to prevent the rain from taking out the foundation and pushing back their time table.

Yeah, brief shower last night just after dark, some thunder later, but no real rain to speak of. Humidity is way up today, topping 50%. 90% chance of heavy thunderstorms tonight, then 40-50% chance of thunderstorms most of the day tomorrow. At least it will be Friday.

Crazy morning…both of us forgot to set alarms last night so we overslept an hour and a half!! Amazing how fast you can get out the door when motivated!!
