Ugh. No.

I'm all for it. Will definitely check it out.

Sad it's not Firefly. Glad it's The X-Files.

I loved the show back then, but I haven't given a revival a second thought.
I was kinda surprised it got a second movie.
I'll still give it a watch, though.

I bailed on the series sometime in Season 8, liked the first movie but still haven't seen the second. I might get around to that before this new series comes around, but I will check it out even if I don't catch up on all I've missed. A re-watch of the good years is definitely in order.

Don't bother with the second one, it didn't suck, but it was like watching a two hour TV episode. Could've been way better. This will be a mini series like "24: Live Another Day" and the up coming "Wayward Pines".

Don't get me wrong, I was part of the pimple-faced hoards lining up for book signings, but somewhere along the way I stopped wanting Mulder to probe Scully, and they killed off The Lone Gunman. I too didn't even bother to watch the last two seasons, though I do barely remember both movies.
At one point I had even recorded them and catalogued them for re-watching. But no. I just don't wanna go back there.

Sigh. There's ALWAYS talk. Seen a DOZEN of those articles before. But... MONEY. We know the fans would pony up after Nathan and Alan's latest, but getting someone to say "go"?
I need an old priest, a young priest, and a whole team of lawyers to resurrect this demon...(The lawyers so the demon can feel comfortable in it's own kind of surroundings

AGAIN, I love Craig T Nelson but NO. Stop digging up dead things and trying to re-animate them. Didn't you people LEARN anything from Frankenstein????

This I am not sure about as I am still iffy on the Star Trek reboot.
The original cast is on board, this isn't a J.J. Abrams reboot.

Wonder who they'll get to do it?

Do what? If we're still talking about X-Files, that would be Chris Carter, the creator of the show, and Duchovny and Anderson are on board too.

Did Fox cancel X-Files? Or did Carter just end it?
If Fox cancelled, and now admits they made a mistake, maybe somebody could remind them about Firefly.

Technically a cancellation, but in reality it had run its course through nine seasons and had practically driven Duchovny away from the show. He was in only 14 of the last 40 episodes, and it was shortly after he disappeared that I stopped watching.

I'm sure they're reminded of that nearly every single day.

Clearly not enough, or we would have seen more episodes in the past 12 years.

I know everyone around here thinks the same thing, since we know how awesome Firefly is, but most of the other properties being rebooted, sequeled or prequeled have lots more episodes or more movies already, much higher profiles. It is very easy for ardent fans to think that everyone knows about their fandom, but I encounter people nearly every day who still haven't heard of Firefly, and those who have are tired of hearing me talk about it.

I watched the first half hour and it was like watching paint dry. Not painful, but sloooooooow paced. Loved the first movie, but haven't seen the
second. Now, mind you, I was glued to my TV every episode way back when.....
a big X-Files fan, but this reboot.........I don't know, it just didn't appeal to me. It didn't have any of that old 'charm'.
As I write this X is doing well in the ratings department. It goes to show ya, people are starved for the good shows of yesterday, the box office magic of Star Wars was a great indicator of that. I may have to give it a
second chance, perhaps I missed something.

I watched both episodes on Hulu, and so far I'm liking it. Ok, I was giddy!
It's better to lower your expectations before watching any "repilot". I had watched all the way through Heroes: Reborn, so my standards were freshly stomped.
Maybe it seemed slow to you, because they had to reexplain everything, so the newer viewers could catch up on things.
Things I think:
- This season will probably be like a TV show metaphor of an X-Files theme park. Lots of things that would have been covered before, compressed inside of six episodes, with a sprinkling of new stuff to make it worth while.
- From Ep1 it seems the alien mythology is reverting back to a Season 5 state. In the X-Files 'verse, mythology is AND isn't real.
- Mulder seemed as grizzled and cynical as Han Solo had been recently. Also he didn't seem to drive much, as if he always has a remnant of alcohol swimming in his system.
To me, the two episodes were better than the filler ones (Shapes, The Walk, Grotesque) designed for my maximum serotonin production. Stuff was happening, sort of.
I'll keep watching.
