Now that's what you call major backpedaling. Giuliani should try out for America's Got Talent - World's Best Rodeo Clown. Prosecutors across the country are spitting out their coffee watching this once-proud prosecutor
babbling and sputtering into oblivion.

America's mayor has now become America's stooge.

What I'm concerned about is how Barr stated that he is contemplating not releasing Mueller's report, and that he would probably write a summary of Mueller's findings.

But I heard Watergate prosecutor Nick Ackerman say that Mueller may have considered such a move from Trump's AG pick, and that he will find a work around by including certain vital aspects of the case in his court filings.
Of course, that's mere speculation. But I think Mueller may have considered
all possibilities. So far, he's shown to be several steps ahead of all of us.
If he were to ever write a book about this case, I would definitely buy it.

I agree that Mueller is aware some may try to bury the report. I believe he Rosenstein and others have spoken of this. What is troubling is that any of our countries top cops would think it acceptable to cover up Trumps crimes.

And yes, we learn much of what Mueller knows when he indicts someone, and I'd like to be assured that anyone who tries to block the report themselves are charged with obstruction.

It's easy to say with confidence that at any other time in history this would already be over with the president indicted. The only thing protecting him is his angry base and the cowardly republicans.

Trump has been running unchecked for so long that you could literally almost make a dartboard of his crimes to decide what to investigate first.

Take you pick:

Subornation of Perjury

Obstruction of Justice

Conspiracy to Violate US Election Law

Fraudulent misrepresentation of campaign authority (Violation of 2 USCS § 441h)

Conspiracy against rights (Violation of 18 USCS § 241)

Conspiracy to commit Tax Fraud

Tax Fraud

Wire Fraud

Money Laundering

Emoluments Clause Violation of the United States Constitution (Article I, Section 9, Clause 8)

Emoluments Clause Violation of the United States Constitution (Article II, Section 1, Clause 7)

. . . and my personal favorite:

Conspiracy Against the United States

With someone as corrupt as Trump and the corrupt criminals he surrounds himself with, it's almost to the point of asking what crimes DIDN'T he commit?

A foolproof hack of the media
www.motherjones.com/kevin-drum/2019/01/rudy-giuliani-explained/

Rudy Giuliani. He’s been busy over the past few days doing interviews about Donald Trump’s involvement in building a Trump Tower in Moscow. After each interview he then “clarified” what he meant, ultimately ending with a statement today that nothing he said was based on talking to Trump anyway.

It’s obvious what Giuliani has been doing ever since he started representing Trump last year: tossing out chaff so vigorously that nobody can tell from day to day what the current story is supposed to be. The point of this — and this is the important part — is not just to confuse everyone. It’s to make Giuliani the bearer of bad news so that eventually, when Trump is forced to admit something damaging, it’s “old news” that he’s been “saying all along.” The complete explanation for Giuliani looks something like this:

1) Giuliani is chosen as Trump’s “lawyer” because TV networks love him and will always give him airtime.

2) In times of crisis, Giuliani starts tossing out story after story, creating confusion and making Giuliani, not Trump, the center of attention.

3) All of these stories are deniable by the White House since they come from someone whose actual position is kind of vague. Eventually, though, one of them sticks.

4) Later—which could be days or weeks depending on how long Trump lies low—Trump publicly acknowledges the final story and says it’s already been litigated to death and is old news.

5) By then, (a) everyone really is confused, (b) they don’t remember all the details from a few weeks ago, and (c) there’s some new scandal that’s seized everyone’s attention. So Trump’s confession slides under the radar.

This isn’t a foolproof hack of the media, but it’s pretty good. It shows a sophisticated understanding of how the modern media works and how to undermine it, and Giuliani is the perfect choice for the main role. He’s well known; TV reporters like him; he’s loud and pushy and Trumplike; and he’s willing to sound like a doofus if that’s what it takes.

Michael Cohen has postponed his Feb. 7 testimony in front of the House Committee on Oversight and Reform due to “ongoing threats against his family” from President Donald Trump and his attorney, Rudy Giuliani.

Cohen's lawyer, Lanny Davis, announced the cancellation in an emailed statement on Wednesday, citing Cohen’s continued cooperation with “ongoing investigations” as a reason for delaying his House testimony, in addition to the threats from Trump and Giuliani.

Cohen, the president’s longtime personal lawyer, agreed earlier this month to appear before Congress to “give a full and credible account of the events which have transpired,” he said at the time.

House Oversight and Intelligence Committee Chairmen and Elijah Cummings and Adam Schiff released a joint statement Wednesday sympathizing with the “completely legitimate” concerns Cohen has for his family’s safety.

“We will not let the President’s tactics prevent Congress from fulfilling our constitutionally mandated oversight responsibilities,” Cummings and Schiff said. “This will not stop us from getting to the truth. We expect Mr. Cohen to appear before both Committees, and we remain engaged with his counsel about his upcoming appearances.”

The president has made a habit of tweeting out veiled threats to former members of his inner circle who have spoken out publicly against him or cooperated with federal investigators.

Last week, he told his Twitter followers to “Watch [Cohen's] father-in-law!”

Let’s imagine that an evil despotic foreign leader has installed an agent as the President of their most hated adversary country. What would that leader have his agent do?

Have that agent relax sanctions on the leader’s country. CHECK
Have that agent antagonize the country’s allies. CHECK
Have that agent sow discord in the country with hateful divisive rhetoric. CHECK
Have that agent attack the country's institutions, particularly the Justice Department, and install cronies in the leadership of these institutions. CHECK
Have that agent pull the country out of multinational trade and security alliances. CHECK
Have that agent implement crazy economic trade sanctions to weaken its economy. CHECK
Have that agent heap praise on the foreign leader. CHECK
Have that agent go to extraordinary lengths to conceal communications with the foreign leader. CHECK
Have that agent regurgitate obscure dishonest talking points to serve the foreign leader’s propaganda purposes. CHECK
Have that agent shut down the country’s entire government on the basis of some stupid contrived rationale and not reopen it despite enormous political, social and financial damage to the country. CHECK

Wake up country, you’ve been punked! The media has just come around to discussing the very real “possibility” that Donald J. Trump is a witting or unwitting agent of Vladimir Putin.

It is time to fully appreciate that his actions, all of his actions, are in service to his master. It is way past time to recognize that the shutdown, Trump’s Shutdown, that is crippling this country, is actually Putin’s Shutdown.

Putin’s agent Donald J. Trump is doing more damage every day than an invading horde, and it will only get worse until he is stopped.

"The indictment does not charge Stone with conspiring with WikiLeaks, the anti-secrecy website that published the emails, or with the Russian officers Mueller says hacked them. Instead, it accuses him of witness tampering, obstruction and false statements about his interactions related to WikiLeaks' release. Some of those false statements were made to the House intelligence committee, according to the indictment."

This was NOT on Info Wars or youtube:

39. Following Person 2’s invocation of his Fifth Amendment privilege not to testify before U.S. House of Representatives Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (“HPSCI”), STONE and Person 2 continued to have discussions about the various investigations into Russian interference in the 2016 election and what information Person 2 would provide to investigators. During these conversations, STONE repeatedly made statements intended to prevent Person 2 from cooperating with the investigations. For example:

a.
On or about December 24, 2017, Person 2 texted STONE. “I met [the head of Organization 1] for first time this yea[r] sept 7 ... docs prove that. ... You should be honest w fbi . . . there was no back channel ... be honest.”

STONE replied approximately two minutes later. “I’m not talking to the FBI and if your smart you won’t either.”

b.
On or about April 9, 2018, STONE wrote in an email to Person 2, “You are a rat. A stoolie. You backstab your friends - run your mouth my lawyers are dying Rip you to shreds.” STONE also said he would “take that dog away from you,” referring to Person 2’s dog. On or about the same day, STONE wrote to Person 2, “I am so ready. Let’s get it on. Prepare to die [expletive].”

c.
On or about May 21, 2018, Person 2 wrote in an email to STONE, “You should have just been honest with the house Intel committee ... you’ve opened yourself up to perjury charges like an idiot.”

STONE responded, “You are so full of [expletive]. You got nothing. Keep running your mouth and I’ll file a bar complaint against your friend [the attorney who had the ability to contact the head of Organization 1].”

Indicting Roger Stone, Mueller Shows Link Between Trump Campaign and WikiLeaks
https://www.nytimes.com/2019/01/25/us/politics/roger-stone-trump-muell
er.html?action=click&module=Top%20Stories&pgtype=Homepage

In an indictment unsealed Friday, the special counsel disclosed evidence that a top campaign official in 2016 dispatched Roger J. Stone, a longtime adviser to President Trump, to get information from WikiLeaks about the thousands of hacked Democratic emails. The effort began well after it was widely reported that Russian intelligence operatives were behind the theft, which was part of Moscow’s broad campaign to sabotage the 2016 president election.

Have you ever tried to explain this whole thing to somebody who hasn't paid any attention?

It's infuriating. There are so many different facets to this story.

People barely even remember it's about numerous cyber attacks on US citizens and the US government, and a sitting President who illegally conspired with the attacker.

I think Trump got the message because he is reopening the government for 3 weeks. Indicting Roger Stone, Mueller Shows Link Between Trump Campaign and WikiLeaks

"I love Wikileaks!"

Wikileaks is great. It always was. It did a lot of damage against the GWB administration back in the day. It has never removed or retracted a single piece of evidence it's put up.

Either you're too young to remember, you've got a short term memory, or you're picking and choosing when you support people or organizations based off of what they've "done for you lately".

I'm guessing it's the third. I'm looking forward to when you all turn on Mueller like you did on Comey. You can already see that starting to happen after Mueller shut down the fake BuzzFeed story that the rest of your lefty MSM reported as fact and had to retract.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

Former Trump national security advisor Michael Flynn plead guilty in December 2017 on charges of lying to investigators over contacts during the presidential transition with Russian officials.

Two months later, Mueller unspooled a detailed account of a systematic social media influence operation conducted by an entity owned by a friend of Vladimir Putin’s.

In July 2018, Mueller’s office moved the story closer to the Kremlin itself, indicting 12 officials of the GRU, Russia’s military intelligence agency, for hacking and leaking emails from the Democratic National Committee and Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta.

Most recently, in the case of one-time Trump attorney Michael Cohen, Mueller has asserted in court documents that the Trump Organization’s efforts to construct a Trump Tower Moscow went on well into the 2016 presidential campaign and detailed the contacts between Trump associates and Russian officials and cutouts on the matter.

Roger Stone met Trump in 1979. The matchmaker was the infamous Roy Cohn, and the context was the fledgling Ronald Reagan presidential bid. “We hit it off immediately,” Stone recalled.

Ever since, Stone has been to Trump a lobbyist, an adviser, a strategist, a consultant, a friend. In the long life of the current president this always has made Stone stand out.

The basis of this bond was plain. They shared an ideology of expedience, a stated disdain for elites, a disregard for convention, a core belief in the animal power of publicity. A taste for havoc. An overall and abiding approach to life defined by bottomless reservoirs of cynicism and shamelessness. “I would never take a job in government,” Stone once said. “I’m interested in politics.” Politics, in the estimation of Stone, are a Machiavellian combination of combat and showmanship. And they definitively, in his mind, are not about “uniting people” — they are about “dividing people.”

One of Stone’s favorite quotes is The Joker in Batman: “Introduce a little anarchy. Upset the established order and everything becomes chaos. I’m an agent of chaos.”

“President Donald Trump told special counsel Robert Mueller in writing that Roger Stone did not tell him about WikiLeaks ….”

“Stone’s denial matches with what Trump told Mueller: that the two never spoke about WikiLeaks.”

The President may have committed perjury (or made an intentional false statement) in his response to the Special Counsel by denying that he and Stone communicated about WikiLeaks.

It is hard to fathom that the two men did not discuss Stone’s information on WikiLeaks given the detailed revelations in Stone’s indictment about his communications with senior Trump Campaign officials and his work on behalf of the Campaign in liaising with WikiLeaks.

As Chris Cuomo said to Stone on Friday night, “he [President Trump] has known you the longest, OK. He has got the deepest relationship with you … Why would people believe that his oldest most trusted adviser was doing something like this for him at the same time that he kept talking up WikiLeaks and yet he knew nothing about it?”

Whether they actually did talk about it in person or not, he's probably going to have little trouble avoiding this one.

I've mentioned that I've called out Stone for lying about Wikileaks a few times over the years because I heard him say the exact opposite on Info Wars during the months leading up to the 2016 election.

Why would Stone even go on a conspiracy theorist webcast like Info Wars? I admit myself I was pretty gullible back then (and drunk pretty much 24/7) and when I realized that Alex Jones was the guy making wacko videos about Nibiru and CERN being filled with a bunch of Satanists that were opening up gates to hell I promptly stopped watching him.

I suspect this was a tactical move on Stone's part, since the Info Wars site was really only watched by hard core Trump supporters, many of them probably unwittingly watching them as if they were a real news cast because they did a good job of coming off as one. Hell... it seems like anybody that supported Hillary over the years didn't even watch it out of morbid curiosity since it took years of court cases for them to know what I already knew about him... which is that he was lying about Wikileaks.

He may very well have never once spoken directly to Trump about Wikileaks and was using Info Wars to pass along that information out in the wide open.

According to Alex Jones right after the election, Trump had called him and thanked him. This event was supposedly within a few days after the election was over. I never heard audio of this phone call. It may or may not exist in the ether.

The sad thing about the average American or a jury made of Americans is that they have extraordinary difficulty dealing with a liar in a courtroom who is methodical and can keep telling the same false stories with consistency. The life of the lawyer Roy Cohn can illustrate this. As luck would have it, somebody filmed the documentary:

Where's my Roy Cohn? review – damning documentary on villainous lawyer who was Trump’s mentor.

The corrupt hate figure and his association with Donald Trump is brought to light.

www.theguardian.com/film/2019/jan/27/wheres-my-roy-cohn-review-damning
-documentary-on-villainous-lawyer

“Where’s my Roy Cohn?” is a quote attributed to Donald Trump, who asked this of his aides in a moment of exasperation when he was unable to make the Russia investigation disappear. Nowhere is this explained or mentioned in Matt Tyrnauer’s documentary, giving its title a weirdly philosophical air.

One would think that a blatant lack of ethics would put a cinch on Cohn’s career, but that is not, alas, the world we live in. He fueled himself off accusations and fighting. His strategy was always to deny then lie even louder. As a personal attorney he would win high-profile cases by deflection, misdirection and fear-mongering. It made for great tabloid copy, earned him powerful friends and attracted wealthy clients in New York, most notably the heads of organized crime families and the flashy, young real estate mogul Donald J Trump.

Tyrnauer’s film is very standard: a collection of talking heads (including former protege Roger Stone) and news clips. What this by-the-numbers approach lacks in artistry it makes up for in an avalanche of facts. If there is a thesis to be found (other than “boy, wasn’t Roy Cohn a jerk?”) it’s in finding the seeds to Trump’s garden nurtured by Cohn’s odious work. Despite a 20-year age difference, the two were close for many years. They first bonded over a shared love of denying African Americans their civil rights. This blossomed into corruption and kickbacks during the erection of Trump Tower. Cohn loved to see his picture in the paper, and was known for his must-attend parties, so there are ample images in this documentary to turn your stomach.

I predict it is part of a forthcoming wave from film-makers trying to grapple with just how in the hell we got to where we are. To that end, it is an importan

Trump is a tax thief. I noticed over and over that the poorer Trump voters are unable to react like they have an ounce of commonsense to a thief in office. The richer Trump voters understand what is going on, but the poorer ones? They know nothing.
www.nytimes.com/interactive/2018/10/02/us/politics/donald-trump-tax-sc
hemes-fred-trump.html

The poorer Trump voters can't even react to $500 billion per year in general tax thievery, either. The richer Trump voters? They are the ones cheating.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tax_evasion_in_the_United_States#Estimat
es_of_lost_government_revenue

Due to a 1924 provision in the Internal Revenue Service tax code, the chair of the Ways and Means Committee can request that the Treasury Department turn over a president's income tax returns. Once he has them, there's little doubt they would quickly be released to the public. It's very hard for Congress to vigorously investigate tax issues in the executive branch if the executive branch is the only one authorized to disclose the tax returns.

80% of Democrats want Congress to force the release of Trump's returns but 25% of Republicans say the same.

63% of independents want House Democrats to do what they can to get Trump's tax history too.

Trump's explanations -- and excuses -- for these refusals have varied widely. Here are some:

Trump has long insisted that he is under an audit by the IRS and it is therefore legally inadvisable to release his returns. (To be clear: A person under audit can release their returns; hell, Richard Nixon did it as president!)

Trump has suggested that there is nothing to be learned in the tax returns and that his are too complicated for people to understand. "They're extremely complex. People wouldn't understand them," Trump said at a news conference the day after the 2018 election.

The real truth is simple: Trump made the decision long ago -- probably right around when he announced for president or maybe even before -- that whatever was in his tax returns would hurt him far more politically than refusing to release them would. And he is going to fight that fight to the bitter end.

What do we have so far 38 indictments? Then there's the two felony campaign finance violations hanging over Trumps head. His corrupt charity forced to shut down with more to come from the DA's in New York. All adding to his decline with the voters. Much ado about nothing I guess. Isn't that right dummy.

Manafort Judge Clears Courtroom to Hear Sealed U.S. Evidence

rs-courtroom-to-hear-sealed-u-s-evidence?utm_source=google&utm_medium=bd&cmpId=google

"The federal judge who must decide whether Paul Manafort lied to investigators after pledging to cooperate with Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia probe began a hearing Monday in a sealed courtroom to discuss secret evidence gathered by the government.

A court officer cleared the Washington courtroom before U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson took the bench. Mueller’s arguments to support his claims that President Donald Trump’s former campaign chairman breached a plea deal were heavily redacted in publicly filed documents.

Thick loose-leaf binders could be seen near lawyers for the government and Manafort before the courtroom was sealed. Manafort, who is being held in jail following his conviction for fraud and other crimes, wasn’t in the courtroom when reporters were ejected.

Jackson, who held a brief hearing on the matter last month, is set to sentence Manafort on March 5 for two conspiracy counts. Her decision on the alleged deal breach could influence how harshly she sentences him."

The president's campaign manager, national security advisor and personal attorney are now all felons. At some point, being so involved with criminals is not a coincidence.

US prosecutors reportedly subpoena Trump golf courses in Scotland, which some Democrats worry might have been funded by Russian money
https://www.businessinsider.com/us-prosecutors-subpoena-djt-holdings-t
rump-scotland-golf-course-2019-2?utm_source=reddit.com

Prosecutors in Maryland subpoenaed financial documents from DJT Holdings LLC, a UK company that owns President Donald Trump's golf courses in Scotland, The Times of London reported.
They form part of a probe into whether Trump is still profiting from his companies, which would violate the US Constitution's Emoluments Clause.
The clause bans public officials from receiving gifts or cash without Congressional approval.
Glenn Simpson, the co-founder of Fusion GPS, made a tentative link between the courses and Russia. Fusion GPS is the company behind the infamous "golden showers" dossier alleging that Russia has a hold on Trump.
He told The US House Intelligence Committee that the president's UK resorts are "concerning" and there were "enormous amounts of capital flowing into these projects from unknown sources."

Trump Inaugural Committee Subpoenaed by Prosecutors, Source Says

Donald Trump’s inaugural committee is under scrutiny by federal prosecutors in New York, adding new legal woes for the president and his allies that stretch beyond the probe led by Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

The committee’s donors and potential foreign connections have drawn scrutiny, and questions have been raised about how the nine-figure donation haul was spent and how tickets for the slate of exclusive events were allocated.

Ever heard of Bernie Madoff?
www.investopedia.com/terms/b/bernard-madoff.asp

He was investigated in 1999, 2000, 2004, 2005, and 2006, but Justice in America is very erratic and extremely slow. The law didn't find a damn thing wrong, although there was a mountain of circumstantial evidence. Finally, the Crash of 2008 made it obvious even to the most dimwitted that Bernie had been a criminal for the previous 20 years.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madoff_investment_scandal#Previous_inves
tigations

It will take a very long time for Trump to be proven guilty of anything, despite the mountain of circumstantial evidence, just as in the case of Bernie Madoff. Bernie actually pleaded guilty, rather than go on trial. I don't see the possibility of Trump pleading guilty. He will drag this out, in hopes he dies before he is sentenced. Trump already has planned where he will be buried.

But do you see the connection between the excruciatingly slow government investigation of Bernie Madoff and Trump? I do.

Do you see the connection between how slowly investors with Madoff caught on that they were being cheated with how slowly Trump voters catch on that they are being cheated by Trump? People investing with Madoff just didn't want to know. They accepted his lies, although the smarter ones withdrew their money from the Madoff investment Company before he was arrested. The smarter Trump voters should do the same.

Sure. I see a possibility that he's done something worth losing the job over. I'm pretty sure that if you dug deep enough that you could say the same thing for 80% or more of every politician that ever lived as well.

What amazes me is that 2 years have gone by with EVERYONE against him and he's still in the seat.

That's just the rub here. This stuff started before he even took office. We've heard every single day that he's this or that without a single day off. The outrage when Hillary lost was so bad. There was literally crying and screaming (I can show you videos of that, if you didn't see them, or in case you've forgotten). This has NEVER happened before in the history of America... Certainly never on this large of a scale.

I often talk about choosing your battles, and how I've learned to choose mine. Can you see how the daily parade of every single little thing over two years can work to actually undermine any legitimacy to any claims that might actually hold water?

I can.

I've already said I'd be the first to admit I was wrong if something truly damning comes up. I still don't think that anything will. And you and I both know that if anybody is going to go after Trump directly, it better damned well be the Big Show. I see that you are not getting the point. I have been hearing for 66 years that smoking causes cancer and heart attack. Many people I know heard the same, but it did not stop them. Now they are dead from lung cancer and heart attack. Was it wrong for the MSM to tell them over and over what they should have understood after being told only one time? Remember: they are dead and I believe it is the smokers' fault, not the tobacco company for downplaying the risks of smoking. All the dead smokers I knew had sound reasons to not believe the tobacco companies, and yet they would actually claim that there was no proof smoking kills. They stop that nonsense of no proof either once they were in the hospital, or with the most stubborn of my friends, they were dead. Many Trump voters are also saying "No Proof".

(Personal note: December 2018 is the most recent death from cancer of a friend who was a long time heavy smoker, although the drinking didn't help, either. Marshall was 56. )

You don't see a HUGE problem with Trump bragging about achievements that he did not make happen? I see a problem. Here is another brag he made about the powerful things he is going to make happen. "If there is going to be peace and legislation, there cannot be war and investigation," Trump said.

Trump should not have said it, but the message was simple: If you like the current run of economic prosperity and (relative) peace in the world, then you had better end the special counsel investigation being run by Robert Mueller and stop before you start any congressional investigations. If you don't stop, Donald Trump will make bad things happen to your country.

By Wednesday morning, House Intelligence Committee Chair Adam Schiff (California) announced he was launching a wide-ranging inquiry into Trump's finances and whether financial considerations were driving decisions made by the administration.

Trump’s Speech Had 1 Eerie Parallel To Nixon’s Final State Of The Union

President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address on Tuesday contained a callback to one delivered by President Richard Nixon when he was under investigation in the Watergate scandal.

“The time has come to bring that investigation and the other investigations of this matter to an end,” Nixon said on Jan. 30, 1974.

Trump on Tuesday also demanded an end to investigations against him and his administration.

“If there is going to be peace and legislation, there cannot be war and investigation,” Trump said. “It just doesn’t work that way.”

Less than four months after Nixon’s demand, the House Judiciary Committee began hearings on articles of impeachment against Nixon.

By the end of July 1974, the committee approved the articles of impeachment by a vote of 27-11, with six Republicans joining all of the Democrats on the committee.

A full vote in the House never took place as Nixon announced his resignation on Aug. 8, 1974, effective at noon the following day.

Thanks for that, Barry.

Quantitative Easing: Republicans claimed there would be hyper-inflation. They lied, but you don't remember that, do you? All you remember is that Quantitative Easing is bad because a Republican told you.

"selling out our grandchildren": I've heard that out of the mouths of Republicans. They are complaining about the national debt increasing. It is easy to decrease the debt when the economy is doing well, as Trump endlessly brags about how great his economy is. But the national debt is not decreasing, it is predicted to keep increasing at a faster and faster rate. For that increase thank Trump and his tax cut for me and himself.
