Thankful for Firefly

I have been involved in various fandoms since I was a teenager reading sci-fi and fantasy novels, watching Star Trek and Buck Rogers. I remember how comforting it felt on my first night away from home at college to turn on the TV and seen an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Not having cable or broadcast access these past years has limited my involvement with network sci-fi. The Stargate SG-1 box sets fed me well, and there was always anime, the fandom I have been a part of and will never leave.

And then there came Firefly.

And the local Browncoats I met through http://www.meetup.com.

And discovering the wealth of knowledge, creativity, and vaguely organized chaos that is FireflyFans.net.

And making media mvs again.

And attending cons to sit on the inside of a table and talk to people about this 13 episode TV show that got cancelled and will be re-born as a movie.

And having fun again, after what seems like a really long time.

So I'm thankful for Firefly - all the people involved in its creation and continuance. May you all have a shiny Thanksgiving.
