First Blog Ever...
Thursday, January 20, 2005

Wow. Can't belive I'm actually blogging. The purpose for me doing so is threefold and mundane:

First, I just wanted to do it. I'd close my eyes and just jump in, but I'm not very good at typing so the blog would be even less coherent. And by getting it over with hopefully it will pave the way for more and more meaningfull posts.

Secondly, I've been checking out the site for quite some time now and, while I have grown quite fond of it, I cant help feeling like an interloper. So here I am. 28 year old Navy sailor and wannabe pilot (my wife prefers the term aspiring pilot) with my sights on the space program. And, yes, I do have my plastic dinosaurs for that fateful day I get to fly the shuttle and reinact Wash's first seen cause I'm kind of a dork.

Last, I was curious if there were any bikers who could give me a pointer or two about how you know when you have a "wobble". This may sound pretty self evident, but as I am new to the two wheelin lifestyle (in hopes to make my wife a rich woman is the joke she hates) I'm not exactly sure the level of "wobble" to be concerned about. I've noticed a slight wobble around 70mph and I don't know if it's the speed, the road, or me freaking out cause I'm a big scaredy cat.

Thanks for putting up with my diatribe. I promise to be shorter and more meaningful with my coming blogs.

Thanks for the warm welcome and advice. I wish i could avoid 70 mph on my bike, but San Diego is a fast town. Though I will be sure to take care cause I would want to get waylaid before Serenity comes out.

Good on you! Go for the naval aviator route and before you know it they'll name a shuttle Serenity. You'll be on a Nasa crew by then, RIGHT?
Wouldn't that rock to have a Browncoat as an astronaut. Super Shiny!

I second the opinion, don't ride at 70mph. (Can't help with the wobble either.)
I guess if you have the desire to land jets on aircraft carriers then what big deal is a motorcycle?

As someone whose dream of being an astronaut never came to fruition, I wish you the best of luck. My heroes have always been astronauts.

Can't help you about the wobble thing. My advice, though, is not to go 70 on a bike. Even without the wobble. 70-mph Road Rash is a total bummer.

Welcome! I have no useful knowledge to add about bikes. Your blogs don't need to be short and meaningful. Long, meandering, and hopelessly in search of a point works well too.
