Laser eye surgery made me cooler than a ten thousand foot Fonzie
Wednesday, April 20, 2005

Sure I couldn't read for a week, but a small price to pay for this most unexpected increase in my social station. I'm surprised the docs didn't mention it when they were listing all the posibble side effects that could happen. "Just so you know, there will be some swelling and pain for a few days, as well as blurred vision, there is also the possibility of being endlessly propositioned by women and a newfound awe when in the presence of others." I suppose it really just evens out the side effects of my last surgery which made me as cool as getting your ass kicked by a bunch of girl scouts.

Congrats on the surgery! You must have awfully pretty eyes. Girls respond to a fella's pretty eyes. I'm all for green and/or hazel my own self. My mother had a thing for dark, brown-eyed boys (Anthony Perkins, pre-psycho, big-time case in point) but married a blond, blue-eyed boy. Go figure.

Sugery *SHUDDER* It's tempting, don't get me wrong. I'd love to not have to worry about specs anymore, or all the hassles that come with contacts. Thing is, I'm worried about the *vision* I have as an artist. I can see details most can't - trees have about seven different shades of green going on, did you know that?

I'm concerned that getting my nearsightedness fixed might change the way I see the world, and I don't mean euphamistically. Does that make sense?

I'm interested to hear what the final results have done for your vision, aside from the chick factor. Wonder if that would work for me? Then again, better if it doesn't. I go to sci-fi conventions, and a LOT of the guys there are, well, pretty creepifying.

Hmmm...I've never had glasses, but women aren't throwing themselves at me. Maybe I should wear glasses, messing up my vision, then get laser surgery.

Too bad there's no surgery to fix colorblindness. Maybe the ladies would be all over me after that.

I know what you mean about the glasses thing. My wife dug the rims, as well as few others in the past. While it is a great relief not to have to deal with glasses or contacts anymore, the primary motivation for the surgery not for any aesthetic reasons at all: I needed to fix my eyes to be eligible for flight school.

Am I the only woman alive that loves men in glasses? For some reason, I think glasses are sexy. Maybe it's the stereotyped intelligence that goes with them, I don't know. But they are sexy.

I dated I guy that got his eyes fixed...we stopped seeing each other soon afterward. Not saying it was the lack of glasses, but he started getting propositioned everywhere he went. What's with that? I see a great guy, glasses and all...the rest of the world only notices him when he takes off the darn things.

The ew stage? What, all they do is cut your eye open and fire lasers into it. Actually my local university is developing contact lenses which actually fix short sightedness so I'm holding out for that.

Gee, I feel like I should be hitting on you right now!

Congrats on the surgery. My brother had his eyes LASIKed a few months ago and it has worked out really well for him. I still can't get past the ew stage myself.

From what I hear, Lasik is much more pleasant than what I had done (PRK). Nothing like Having a metal brush going to town on your cornea. On the plus side, with all the concentric circles and wild colors associated with it, I think I have a reasonable idea of what an acid trip is like.

Good for you! (and enjoy the attention!)
I'm ready for lasik myself, once I get over the idea of having my eyes cut on. eew!
