Now I'm pissed.

As some may know I've have completed the requirements for a 3-yr degree but was waiting till I knew what was going on next academic year till I made a decision on what to do. Well, we finally got confirmation on where we'll be.

So, I talked to the faculty members about the possibility of supervising me on an honours project (independent study can be done by distance and I'm won't be that far away) and one said yes. I didn't even have to try to convince him. I just sent an email (he's currently out of the country) explaining my idea and his answer was just yes.

I even had another prof. tell me that it was a good idea.

So, thinking everything is in order (I have a member of the honours commitee saying it's a good idea and a willing supervisor) I'm thinking that all is well and good with the world... until today.

My dad called me; got a letter from my University (it's been 3 years or so and I've still to change the address)... a rejection letter for my honours project.

I'm in my final year of study, I've been admitted to the honours program and I've been denied entry into a required course?!?!? What the hell?

To add insult to injury, in the letter there was a suggestion that I ask my former potential supervisor to do a reading course on one of the topics I was interested in.

The problem with this is that there has to be an existing course to do that. And all my ideas for projects don't have courses; they're not taught at the undergraduate level (like most honours projects).

Let me tell you, this isn't over.

Also, given that I'm a senior student, I cannot transfer to the other university; I had to apply for a letter of permission to get equivalent classes transfered back. I find out about that next week.

Quite frankly, my hopes aren't exactly high.

We'll see.
