HP more brainache SPOILERS
Tuesday, July 19, 2005

Well, being the dutiful reviewer I am I thought that I would respond to the lovely people who sent me comments. (If you haven't already seen it check out the HP thread: http://www.fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=8&t=11340)

Anyway, to answer a few points:

I think DD is definitely dead BUT I think he will be back Obi-Wan/Gandalf style just until he is needed. I don't know how but we shall see. At first I thought he was someone else who had taken polyjuice because he didn't read very well. A few people seem to think that but to be honest I think that is wishful think. Someone is going to come back from the dead but I would stake my chances on Sirius - that was too unfulfilling a death for me and smelt of 'this is an easy way to get someone back from the dead'.

Snape and Malfoy are both going to be redeemed - I am pretty sure Lucius will end up dead (probably killed by Arthur) but Narcissa will live to reject the dark arts and raise Malfoy on the right side under guidance from Severus (who is a God, I don't care what anyone says). There is no way Snape is a bad guy - the death was obviously a set-up.

With Harry/Ginny - please, please, please can someone point me to the parts where this is hinted at. I so don't get it.

oooh, I'm replying to myself again.

I have fallen for a friend (my partner actually, and very sidden it was too). I don't know anyone that has fallen for a relation of their best friend that they have known since they were tiny little people - that is just odd. Harry and Ginny are just wrong!

I'm just gonna say this to the people so outraged about the Harry/Ginny deal: you mean to tell me that you have never started feeling something else for a friend you've known for a long time? That one day you looked at them with other eyes and went, "Oh, wow! How come I didn't see him/her before? What was I thinking?" It happens, people. It happened to me a couple of times, and it happened to Harry too. Get over it.

Yep, I know I am replying to myself but I had to say YES, Luna and Neville got screwed. Excellent way of putting it, thanks ThatWeirdGirl!

Ron should just stay away from girls. Luna and Nelville got the screwed in this book. Luna is better than a pity date and Nelville is a good steady friend.

Snape is a killer, Malfoy (as much as I hate to say) could be redeemed, Ginny/Potter is ok, the fact that they were all whiney teenagers in this book. . .realistic. That's pretty much all my thoughts. Oh yeah DD is dead, Sirius is dead, and Voldi is dying soon. . .

It was a good read, but too short really for all it needed to cover (again this is my inexpert opinion) and I look forward to the next one.

I'm not pleased w/the Harry/Ginny thing either. Or the Hermione/Lavender thing.

I think Dumbledore and Snape saved Draco by their actions. I'm not sure how Draco will take to the saving, but he isn't a killer. I've trusted Snape since his introduction in B1...some may call me naive.

MAUGWAI

I think if Anybody comes back from the dead it will be a cop-out, and Rowling isn't that kind of author. The reason this book was so moving was because it didn't sugar coat anything. Diggory died, Sirius died, Dumbledore died. Even in the world of magic, when people die, they die. Because that's life. If dead can be overturned, the story loses its edge. Harry loses his drive. It's not as good.

Dumbledore was not infallible. He trusted Snape, and that trust cost him his life. Malfoy had the opportunity to be saved and lost it. Dumbledore couldn't save either one of them because they made their own decisons. Everybody expected Dumbledore to always be perfect and make the right decisions, but he's only human. Still, he could save Harry.

I wouldn't have the story any other way.
