Back in the gorram hospital I go....

(Insert appropriate Mandarin curse here)

Still had a little weirdness going on post cardiac cath/stents 2 months ago, so I had a stress test. I was really hoping it was just going to prove that I really am a hypochondriac, and all was ok...no such luck. Still showing an area of blockage, and it was less than before, but still "significant" (whatever the hell that means).

I was really, really imagining this was going to involve having a bypass this time, but doc recommended another catheterization. Well, I guess that's better than the dreaded "B" word, but still a piece of go se. The worst part is the giant C-clamp they use on your leg afterward for about half and hour...hurts like a bitch and made me start to pass out last time. And then not being able to sit up for several hours. Makes peeing very hard....

I'll be off work for a week because of driving restrictions, so at least I can hopefully work on some D*C costuming stuff while I'm stuck here, but that means I need to pull it all out of the boxes tomorrow and do the shopping I need, since I can't lift either.

What a PITA....sorry to vent, but I'm just too gorram young for this, and can't figure out how it got so bad so fast. Especially when I had really been taking care of myself lately!

Oh, well, I should be able to make D*C, and that's what matters right now....Maybe won't be as buff and organizized as I was hoping to be by then, but at least I'll make it....And I'll still be on this side of the dirt, and that's a good thing too.

Thanks, guys....

Willowy, you and I are indeed the same age...way too gorram young for this crap! I'm so sorry to hear about your heart attack, but glad all is ok now!

I'm doing all the good stuff -- fish oil, trying to watch my diet, etc. The exercise stuff is up and down with me...I was really good about it for about a year, lost 40 lbs., felt great. Then I started having the chest pains last fall, cut back on it, couldn't go get it checked out until I got insurance when I went back to grad school this winter. So I'm out of shape again, but have been able to keep the weight down (not as much as I'd like!), but between this issue and school demands, I haven't been good about doing my exercise.

Bought a recumbant stationary bike a couple of weeks ago, but of course, doc says no until after this gets resolved.

Good news is it looks like I will qualify for a clinical study of a new medicine that is looking good for not only weight loss, but for reversing coronary plaque and improving HDL (the one area I'm having issues with as far as blood work goes -- other cholesterol readings are stellar now, following Lipitor, Plavix, etc.)

Thanks for the well wishes!

WILLOWY

Bless your heart, literally, my dear.

About a year and a half ago I had a caesarian section to have my daughter Willow. The operation resulted in a blood clot that traveled to my heart and a heart attack was the result. I'm only 43.

I completely and totally sympatize with your problem. Heart troubles are incredibly frightening. Eat a lot of salad and salmon, take vitamin E, drink copious amounts of red wine, get on Plavix (if you aren't already) and walk very quickly around the block at least once a day. The trick is, as I'm sure you've been told, getting those deposits off the artery walls, and making sure the ones that are there don't stick.

I wish you the best of luck with your angioplasty, and my well wishes are constantly coming your way.

I'm sorry, my fellow Browncoat, that you are having to endure this. You have my sincere sympathy.

No worries, Klingons are tough! (but you'll be in our prayers anyway, HSK) Take things slow, and get well.
