YOU KNOW, I WAS UPSET WITH THE LOSS OF TWO OF OUR HEROES.I JUST COULDN'T UNDERSTAND HOW JOSS COULD DO THIS TO US! THEN AFTER SOME THOUGHT I REALIZED SOMETHING.HE HAS DONE THIS TO US SO MANY TIMES BEFORE IN SO MANY DIFFERENT WAYS. I'VE READ SOME VERY INTERESTING THINGS TODAY THAT WOULD SUGGEST OUR PILOT DIDN'T DIE. DOES ANYONE RECALL THE CREW ACTUALLY BURYING HIS BODY? NO. WASH WAS NEVER SEEN AFTER THE CREW RUSHED OFF OF SERENITY.WE ALL ASSUMED HE WAS DEAD. JOSS HAS DONE THIS SO MANY TIMES BEFORE ON BUFFY AND ANGEL.CREATIVITY IS HIS BUSINESS,SO LET HIM BE CREATIVE AND ENTERTAIN US EVEN MORE. NOW, LETS WATCH SERENITY ONCE MORE WITH THAT IN MIND.
MAL "WE'RE STILL FLYIN."
SIMON "THAT'S NOT MUCH."
MAL "IT'S ENOUGH."

RIJEDI

Though this thread is probably long since closed and the tipoc forum long dead, I hope someone finds this post because I just wanted to say this.
Hoburn Wash was my absolute favorite number one character in the show. Then suddenly he dies and is no more. Total shock and sadness at this and all. Still it made the tension real and I'll be damned if Joss isnt the most gutsy director I've ever seen. It takes a lot of courage to kill off a character as popular as Wash. I give serious props to Joss for this. He knew he was going to lose fan's for this. He knew and he did it anyway. Well done Joss. You knew us strong browncoats could use a little shaking. Thanks for not babying us with immortal stereotypes.

I doubt Wash will come back in any other way than flashbacks or such.

But this post has got me thinking. What did happen to Wash's body? Would Reavers have torn off the Flesh? Generally they don't care for dead bodies, but in a way Wash was one of their victims.

And supposing they did leave Wash alone (or not for that matter) who got Wash out of the seat? I can't see any of the crew having the stomach to wrench out the spike and drag Wash into a coffin.

Sorry for being so morbid, but I find this interesting...

There seem to be a lot of ideas about how Alan Tudyk can make a comeback after his untimely demise. But I think only one of them is a credible possibility. When Alan Tudyk returns in Serenity 2 don't blame me if this spoils it for you, since it's so obviously what Joss has planned.

Alan Tudyk returns as a Reaver who has sewn Wash's entire skin into his clothing. This will be a sort of King Reaver in a Wash suit!

The film will culminate with a final showdown in which Mal has been put out of commission by the Wash Reaver and Zoe must face off against the face of her dead husband.

If you think about it, it's the only logical thing for Joss to do.

TRACY

I can share with you this -

Scene: Outside the red carpet premiere party in L.A., two weeks ago.

Me: (whispering in ear) "I cried. Twice."
Alan Tudyk : (holding my hand from the greeting still) )"I'm so sorry!"
Me: "I felt staked through the chest."
AT: "Don't worry, everything will be fine. I promise you."

Later - Same place.

Me: "I kinda hate you for killing Wash."
Joss Whedon: "Well, you know... sorry."
Me: "But I do have some theories as to how you can bring him back."
JW: "Oh, you're not alone! I have like a million of them. I promise you, he'll be back. Everything's OK."

We may see Wash again in some form, but there's no magical resurrection pill in the Firefly verse.

That still leaves flashbacks, dreams, visions, surrealism, holograms, and... um... "Washbot." So I doubt we've seen the last of him (or Book).

Wash is dead, as much as some might wish he wasn't.

Does Joss have a plan to bring him back? Only he knows that.
