Just finished my first fic. http://www.fireflyfans.net/bluesun.aspx?bid=5395 It's a quick alternate opening scene for the movie. I'm relatively pleased with the way it came out because (1) I finished it in a single day, which is quite an achievement for me, and (2) writing in this verse didn't feel like a struggle.

Shifting gears...

There's been some talk - http://www.fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=2&t=14151 - about organizing fans to directly fund new Firefly episodes. I think it's a great idea, but there seems to be a lot of pessimism around ("My cousin's best friend's sister said that'll never work.")

If enough people bring the idea to Mutant Enemy/Sci-Fi Channel, they'll at least listen. Especially with the great ratings the show has been getting lately.

Some people have said they're willing to commit up to $5,000, and that's with us just barely mentioning the idea. Think of how much money we could raise if we organized everyone. We're talking millions.

We should write to PBS to do the fundraiser by showing a Firefly Marathon. They tend to do atleast decent with their fundraisers. And I want to see a Season 2, and a Big Damn Sequel. Gorramit!

Oh don't get me wrong, I'm not giving my money to anyone but Mutant Enemy directly - and only after the green light from them.
