Home again, home again...

I had a great time but it's good to be back. (sigh of relief)

Thanks so much to msg, FollowMal, jossisagod and Marine for your kind words in response to my last blog. You put a big

on my face for the 1400-mile drive.

I had a great time! My niece continues to be the cutest and most brilliant girl on this planet, at least in the opinions of me and the rest of my family, and we did some fun stuff, even though I was only there for parts of two days. I went to a festival and a free concert, I hung out with my sister and her family, I saw mountains--it was wonderful.

The drive was less wonderful. Both nights I stayed in a motel, I got no sleep because some bozo didn't want anyone in the vicinity to sleep and therefore made enough noise to keep an elephant awake. (Do elephants sleep soundly? I sure didn't.) Why do people do that????

I also had to contend with a dead watch battery, a car that decided to make strange chirping noises in the middle of nowhere, some driver who wanted to see what happens when you merge his SUV into the front end of my Toyota (I hit the brakes just in time), and large flying pieces of tire that pelted my car after a semi's tire exploded just as it was passing me. Needless to say, I'm very happy to be safely home, but I honestly think it was worth it.

I did get one Serenity moment: I passed an exit for Mingo! No foolin'. I looked in vain for Fanty, but there was only Mingo (Exit 62 on I-70, btw). Since I only saw one, I can't tell you which is prettier.

I hope everybody had a great weekend and I look forward to catching up on the FFF.net happenings.

Wow...that tale beat mine by a mile. As in I only witnessed a Rolls Royce trying to merge itself into a Dodge Caravan, rather than be involved in such a thing myself;)
