Found out today my mom's having medical issues, which she hadn't bothered to tell me of and probably wouldn't have if my stepfather hadn't called me while she was sleeping today to fill me in.

While she told me she'd had some abdominal pain a few weeks back and the doctor told her it was just constipation and gave her some heavy duty meds to get things going, she hadn't said anything since so I thought things were okay.

Wrong.

Apparantly mom's been having more and more pain including back pain which has gotten so bad she hadn't been able to sleep the past few nights. (No mention of this and I last talked with her...YESTERDAY!) She had a CT scan today which is inconclusive and she has more tests schedualed for Thursday.

Stepdad sounded a bit shaky when we spoke, but said that they don't know anything yet. Mom sounded okay, but then she's not been saying too much to me, so....

I'm worried as mom had major surgery last year (hysterectomy) when the doctor discovered abnormal cells in a pap test.

I may be reading more into this than is warranted as a.) I've got too many years working for a hospital, b.) I'm a natural worrywart and c.) I've been having a boatload of anxiety that I don't know where the hack it came from for the past few weeks.

Thanks for letting me vent.

Totally know how you're feeling, RMMC...my mom got hospitalized cuz she basically ignored something that became like a pleural effusion and I knew jack squat about the whole deal till she had to be taken to an ER...

So...I definitely hope things will turn out manageable for your mom and that she'll recover quickly:)

SWEETSERENDIPITY

Hope everything turns out ok. We'll be thinking good thoughts your way.

Have they checked gallbladder? I had somewhat the same symptoms, along with a whole lot of puking and pain under the ribs. Best surgery I ever had.

Hang in there. I'm sending positive thoughts your way. Hope you get some answers soon so you'll at least know what you're dealing with. Anxiety over the unknown is the worst to try and manage.

I'm very sorry to hear this. I'm glad they're doing tests so they can find out what's going on and I hope they'll find something soon so they can take action.

You have my best wishes that this will turn out all right. If your anxiety continues, you might want to see a doctor about it because it can be treated.

You and your mom will be in my thoughts.
