Well, it's the weekend, and I've more or less promised myself never to post an actual chapter on the weekend anymore, because it turns out that some people have lives, and aren't sitting by their computers refreshing every 3.5 seconds to stroke my Muse's ego.

I understand, of course, but she is frankly disgusted.

A Game (of sorts)
In honour of Ireland and St. Patrick's day, I've decided to have a vote, done in the style of PR-STV (proportional representation with single transferable vote). Like the US has the electral college? Yeah, PR-STV is Ireland's voting system.

Ok, so now the poll.

First, I should make clear that this is mostly for curiousity purposes only. I am floundering a little in plot bunnies, but I'm not drowning, so please don't worry that I'm going to just take the popular choice and run with it. I'm not. I am looking more for an explanation of why people think should go in a specific way, as some of the wackier plot bunnies are trying to convince me of exactly how compelling they are.

Item One: Simon/Simon's death.
1. Simon's dead.
2. Simon's not dead! He and Kaylee will somehow finally get it together and make it work.
3. Simon's not dead! He and Kaylee will somehow finally get it together and make it work, but only after somemore serious angst.
4. Simon's not dead, but he and Kaylee part amicably.
5. Simon's not dead, but Kaylee breaks up with him. She can't deal with him anymore.
6. Simon's not dead, and he breaks up with Kaylee. He can't deal with her anymore.

Item 1b: Simon's not dead, and he and Kaylee aren't an item anymore.
1. Simon should pine away in unrequited love!
2. Simon should try to steal Ceres away from his sister if Mal ever gets her back!
3. Simon should try to shack up with Zoe!
4. Simon should leave Serenity.

Item 1c: Simon is dead or Simon is not dead, but Kaylee and he aren't an item anymore.
1. Kaylee should leave Serenity.
2. Kaylee should not leave Serenity.
3. Kaylee should try to shack up with her faux ge-ge, Jayne, in an intriguing take on CSI.

Item 1d: Simon's dead.
1. River kills herself.
2. River doesn't kill herself.
3. River doesn't kill herself immediately but attempts to find Ceres.

Item 2: Ceres
1. Ceres dies.
2. Ceres dies, what the hell did you ever have her in the story for?
3. The crew of Serenity stop looking for her. Maybe she dies, maybe she doesn't, it's just one of those mysteries, and we don't really care about the answer.
4. The crew of Serenity stop looking for her. Maybe she dies, maybe she doesn't, it's just one of those mysteries, and the perfect excuse for a sequel!
5. Serenity rescues Ceres.
6. Ceres rescues herself. She contacts Serenity.
7. Ceres rescues herself. She goes to ground.

Item 3: Zoe's babies
1. As a result of Simon's suicide attempt, Zoe loses the babies. Simon is dead, so it doesn't affect him.
2. As a result of Simon's suicide attempt, Zoe loses the babies. Simon is not dead, and has to live with the guilt.
3. You are sick, what is with you? Don't kill Zoe's babies! Zoe should just miscarry one of the twins.
4. Zoe's babies are fine. One boy, one girl. Boy older.
5. Zoe's babies are fine. One boy, one girl. Girl older.
6. Zoe's babies are fine. Two girls.
7. Zoe's babies are fine. Two boys.
8. Zoe's babies are fine. With regard to gender, surprise me.

Item 4: Sam
1. Kill him quickly. I like this red-shirt thing you've got going on, it makes me feel all nostalgic for the good old days of sci-fi.
2. Kill him slowly. Green and Banks aren't kill-him-quickly kinda guys; Elizabeth's death was expressly to make a point.
3. Don't kill him! Let him get rescued with Ceres.
4. Don't kill him! Have Ceres rescue him and herself.

Ooh...interesting poll you got going here, girlfan! Let's see what...my responses are:

1a) Option #3 --> Simon lives and Silee triumphs eventually, but not until more angst is wrung out;D

1b) Hmm...either Option #3 or #4, but I would prefer Option #3 --> Simon recovers after splitting from Kaylee and eventually starts a relationship with Zoe after they have had a few contretemps to sort out their hearts and minds.

1c) Option #3, I guess, since Kaylee needs to stay on Serenity and deserves to be with someone who is more in sync with the kind of personality she has. Though I personally have never really classified Jaylee as a version of CSI;D

1d) Option #3 --> River tries to find Ceres and doesn't immediately commit suicide.

2) Option #6 --> Ceres busts herself and manages to contact Serenity.

3) Option #8 --> Zoe's babies survive and the genders should be a surprise;)

4) Option #2 --> Slow death to Sam to keep tension high and make for more character exploration moments.
