Schedule for my last year of boyhood.

Hey All

Last Friday, I went to register for classes for not only next year, but also for the summer. Normally around this time, I'm wrapping up another school year before dropping off the face of the earth for four months as I work my ass off for money to live off of. But since I made so much money last year with CP Rail, I decided that I would use this summer to take some summer classes for classes that I've been putting off for the longest time. Thus, I now know what my next year will be like until I finally graduate from college after five years and enter the real world.

March 25th-April 11th: Work on final projects up to the last minute, primarily my 301 final. Had another rehearsal today where we went up to the store and did some preliminary blocking for the shoot between Fri and Sun. Last day will be the 11th, where I do my Kubrick presentation that I haven't really started work on. I'm a terrible procrastinator, so I usually spend the two days before it's due scrambling, which oddly enough leads to good results.

April 15th-May 4th: Go home to work at family farm and make some extra money by helping out with seeding. With that as well as the income tax refund check, I'm hoping to make about three thousand, which should be enough to tide me over for the summer and next year.

May 7th - May 31st: Take my first summer class, CS 100. Took it once and dropped it halfway. Will take a three week course that goes all day Monday through Wednesday up to Thursday morning. Will most likely go back and help on farm for Fridays.

All of June: June is pretty much my month off. I'll either take a job that'll last me through the month, or will just devote to writing scripts, research for documentary proposals, exercise and dating. Although most likely in that scenario I'll just sit on my ass for a full month watching DVD's. Will end on the Canada Day long weekend, where the extended family will actually get together for a surprise b-day party for my Grandpa, even though his birthday's normally in Dec. Sort of a family reunion, I guess.

July 3rd-August 20th: This is where it really kicks in. I will be taking the dreaded languages and try to learn the whole Spanish language in six weeks. Classes go from July 3rd to August 16th, with the final on the 20th. I intentionally put it back this far because May is season finale month, and that would have been a huge distraction. With July and August, I'll be in the right mindframe to barely pass.

August 20th-Aug 31st: Will go home again and work for two weeks at the farm again, this time for harvest.

Sept 1st-Dec 5th: There has been talks that I would get my grad present early and actually go to the Toronto International Film Festival as a festival-goer. Will take one class for the whole semester, which'll be Film 400 on Tuesdays between 11:30 and 2:30 with Charlie Fox. He said there'd be some overlap between the two 301 classmates, so I don't know if the gang I've been in this last year will all be together. I'm hoping that during this four month period, that I will be working almost full time. Would like it to be a film job (which I'll be looking for all year round, so plans might change), but will keep an open mind for other jobs. Personally, I wouldn't mind working for a courier company. I like driving around the city all day delivering packages.

Dec: Go home again for holidays. Maybe work, maybe not.

Jan-April: If Toronto doesn't pan out, then it's a road trip to Park City, Utah for skiing and Sundance. One class again. Film 401. Probably same time with same people. Complete my final project that I would have been working on all year and then graduate. I will enter the real world.

(Cue Sia's "Breath Me" and scariness)

After that, I have no idea what to expect.

Sounds like you've got a good plan going there. And, like BEB, envy over Toronto and Sundance...

Damn...I even your foresight, reginaroadie. I am still struggling to figure out what's gonna be next after classes finish:(

Still...sounds like you have lots of fun and excitement lined up for the next year or so. Quite envious of the classes you will be taking...as someone bored to suicide of his program;)
