Bono: NOT a Jedi Knight, kids….

I just saw today that Bono has received an honorary knighthood. I have mountains of admiration for the guy. He’s got guts and a big heart, and he really gives a damn about his fellow man.

Congrats! Bono, you are the coolest of them all.

But, apparently his younger sons were disappointed, they thought he was being made a jedi knight, and thought he would be bringing home a light sabre! ..hehe...cute!

I read this joke a little while back and thought this a good time to share it with y’all (there are a few different versions of it - I like this one):

Eric Clapton dies and goes to heaven. St Peter is showing him around...."There's Jimi, John Lennon over there........there's Janis Joplin and Jim Morrison......there's Bono...."
"Wait a second"....Clapton says..."Bono's not dead!"
"Ssshhhhhh" says St Peter...."that's God. He just likes to pretend he's Bono.

BlueEyedBrigadier: yeah..I tend to think that he wouldn't be comfortable with being called 'Sir' even if it was permitted.
Reginaroadie: I think he would like the joke too, I think the fact he has a sense of humour about himself makes him so likeable. Like the idea of 'using the Jedi mind trick on presidents and prime ministers'....Hehehe..good one.
Msg: I think it says so much about Bono & U2's musical brilliance that they are still going strong after 20 or more years.

Hmm...wonder if the little ones asked their Daddy if he knew Qui-Gon Jinn since they sounded the same (aka. since both Bono and Liam Neeson are Irish)?

And I am glad that he got the nod, AND that he's not gonna want to be called "Sir." Would totally muck with his "average Joe done real good" style of living.

Oh man, that is such a perfect joke. Especially since for the next three days, I'll be shooting my 301 final project in which one of my leads has a monologue about how Bono is the voice of God.

And I think he himself would like the joke. He's a great humanitarian, but he also has a sense of humor about himself.

Cute to think his kids would think he was going to become a Jedi knight. It would help his efforts if he could use the Jedi mind trick on presidents and prime ministers.
