Spot the Firefly! (Drive related)
Wednesday, April 18, 2007

I've broken my FOX Network boycott to watch Drive. I have to say, it's another Tim Minear masterpiece! Though, because it is on FOX, I'm not going to be surprised if it gets cancelled. I might still cry, but I won't be shocked.

Please God, don't let them cancel this show!

I've always thought that Nathan looked sexier the more beat-up he looked. (The kind of beat-up look coming from the make up chair and not from a RL brawl!. Please see "War Stories" and BDM.) He's the kind of guy who can pull it off! So, when he had all that bruising and that big knot on his cheek, I was about to fall out of my chair...

*eye glaze over as the mind wonders off, then snaps back into the present*

And, then the chair went through the mirror and the car came into view!!! Oh... my... gosh! The truck Alex was driving was a sweet reminder of our beloved Serenity, but that car is just so friggin' sexy! I nearly died and went to heaven during the last five minutes on Monday night where they had that sequence of leaving all of the other cars in the dust on his way to Rome! And when he gave that smile that let us meet the real Alex, I think I actually did die! Again, very sexy!

(Forgive me, guys. I'm reverting back to my 14-year-old fan-girl self here!)

And since this is a post-Firefly Tim Minear production featuring the Captain, there are a ton of FF references, so from now on I'm playing "Spot the Firefly" every Monday night between 8:00-9:00 pm. For instance, the truck that was in the spirit of Serenity, Detective Ehrle played by Richard Brooks (aka-Jubal Early), "You don't want to meet the real Alex Tully!", etc. (Question: What if you do want to meet the real Alex?? )

All in all, its a great show. I'm really enjoying it!

Yep...Drive is definitely filled with moments that just scream "Browncoat fan service!"

;D

And maybe it's me, but the whole "real Alex Tully" bit between Alex and the faux Officer Poole struck me as both an homage to Niska and Mal's comment to Inara in the BDM where he tells her that she will know when he starts fighting a war...

"You don't want to meet the real Alex Tully" was a whole bunch like Niska. Now we find the real you, yes?

How about initially unwanted stowaways being hounded by nameless killers, who then turn out to be "of use" and kept around?

Especially loved the wrench-konking moment. Brought back fond memories of "Ariel."

I admit, I like the show as well. I know where I'll be on Monday nights at 8:00.

Nathan does look his best when he's beaten up a bit.

And Richard Brook's voice sent chills down my spine. It's so distinctive.

Richard Brooks' character's name was Ehrle? Awesome! I love this show. I laughed when I heard "You wanna meet the real Alex Tully?" I'm trying to start up a Drive Podcast, actually.
