Jon Stewart and Vibrators
Wednesday, May 23, 2007

So, a couple days ago (Mon night I think) I was watching the daily show on comedy central with my wife. We were chatting during the break when out of the corner of my eye a commercial caught my attention.

Now it seemed as though it was just another condom commercial, but there was an added product in it. Something along the lines of a vibrator. One of those ring things that go on the guys thingy with some vibrator thingy attached to it.

I wasn't offended by any means. It just showed the product (briefly) and that was it. But, it certainly did surprise me that something like that is starting to be advertised.

I guess such things have become somewhat less taboo, eh?

thatweirdgirl --> nice to know spectacles can sometimes add to the loveliness of the package;)

And since I see the "The Daily Show" and "The Colbert Report" on The Comedy Channel (Canadian version of Comedy Central), I think I miss these commericals. Though I am sure both hosts could do wonders with a tiny kerfuffle about these ads;)

REGINAROADIE

When I read the title for the blog, I thought that this was a bit on THE DAILY SHOW that was like the bits they did on the Jimmy Dean "sausage wrapped in pancakes" or the "breakfast Gatorade", like a product they'd mercilessly mock.

But I guess since it is late at night on Comedy Central (a cable station) when the kids are in bed, it would make sense to see ads like that. It's the Viagra ads during primetime on network tv I'm more concerned about.

TRUEBLUE

i was wondering how the two connected.

I am not offended either, and yes there has been a greater acceptance of these things.

It is moving away from the "you're going to hell! You dirty, dirty boy!!!" to a more "Ok after 11pm" approach.

@ThatWeirdGirl:

I wouldn't discount horny political men. After all, they're the ones that are going to have to wear it... on there thingy ;)

Btw, it's good to see you back :)

I agree with PhoenixRose (except I have cable).

As far as demographics - Comedy Central (as well as the rest of television) gets... interesting... after 11pm. Maybe late-night viewers are just supposed to be horny in general? Or, it's the only time they can advertise without getting a suit from parents of small children?

A thing with a thing that does, you know, that thing? Heh.

Does make one wonder about the demographic Jon's bringing to the advertisers: horny political women. Dunno. I think I'd go for Steve over Jon. You know me, glasses wins.

Yah, I was trying to avoid the use of the word "cock" in the blog...

Wild though isn't it.

*cough* It's called a cock ring... in this case, a vibrating cock ring...

Seriously? Advertising for that? Hey, that's cool! Makes me regret even more that I don't have cable...
