There's a ship lodged in my brain
Saturday, July 24, 2004

The other day I had this idea that I'd throw myself into the whole fan fic writing thing. I wanted to be able to contribute somehthing other than my normal "oh yea, me too" on the discussion boards. As I have said many times, I am so happy that I found this site and all of you similarly obsessed type people.
Anyway an idea finally came to me and so I thought I'd type out a few rough paragraphs and come back to flesh it out later. To make a long story, well not quite so long... four hours later I had written nearly 7 pages. I wanted to keep going but I knew I had to get some sleep before it was time to go to work. Needless to say it took me nearly forever to fall asleep. This crazy freaking story had taken over my brain! Have I lost my mind? Almost completely... and strangest part is kind of like it.

Welcome to the world of a fanfiction writer...

I agree with Dracos... when it's flowing out of your brain just go with it. If you try to stop before you're done, it'll just result in writer's block.

Trust me...

Lost your mind? No, relish that feeling. In my writings I've found that the times when a story truly flows from you and you love every minute of it are very rare. Its only happened to me twice in the years I've been writing and its a great sensation when you find a thread and as you write it you know that every word you put down is the right one to go into that place. When you get that feeling though, dont stop, dont stop until you're done because if you lose the thread you probably wont be able to pick it up again the next time you go at it.
