I do read a little. I'm doing what you're suggesting though, taking a break and doing other stuff til the muse latches back on :-)

You sure ain't alone. Same thing's been buggin' me for months. Only thing I've been able to do is just let it lie, do something else for a little while, and hope I find inspiration in some random source. ('Course it doesn't help that my beta readers always seem to lose either interest or time after the first couple of chapters.)

Do you like to read at all? And not necessarily fanfic - a lot of times, a good book will chop up the block. For me, it was not only a good book or three, but going to see my favourite band live - their lyrics are mighty evocative and the front man is quite the poet. That was a neat feeling, to find long-lost inspiration at a rock concert. ;)

Least you got something going before you got literary constipation of the worst sort. I got the preemptive type:(
