No political prattle from me today. I know, a lot of you were looking forward to it. Suck it up. I just want to say happy barbequing, fireworking and running through the sprinklers. Be careful, be safe and be happy.

Just some reminders of the day.


And then there's this one. I know, it's not American. I know, it's actually French . But you know, they helped us back in the day. And it's Liberty holding their flag. And if nothing else, she's topless, and few things say "America" more than that...



There were folks that put today together. And folks that made today happen. And folks that held the day. And folks that gave the day meaning. And folks that missed out on that.



I'm not sure exactly who was responsible for that last one. I think it’s kind of an olive branch sort of thing.

We try to commemorate or immortalize or pay tribute to those that went before, or to the principles for which they stood, and sometimes misunderstood; iconic images which evoke a visceral response.



And there are those who fought, and sometimes died, to improve on the model; those, of whom some would argue the contrary.



What is America? We all are. Some of us get it, some of us don’t, but that isn’t the criterion.
