I've thought of an ending for my book....
Thursday, October 18, 2007

I really should oughta say 'books', plural.

'Cause an ending ain't all I've thought of. Much to my relief, and excitement, and joy, and other emotions of delight, it looks like my muse has at last gotten its prairie harpy off my boat and gotten me back in the air: I'm finally writing more than a paragraph a night, I have a whole continuity thought out for this story arc, and just now I thought of a name for the story arc. Those of us who are Lord of the Rings buffs (and were before the movies) very well know the adage 'Not all who wander are lost': but suddenly and randomly, I found myself thinking about the rest of the poem from whence that line stems.

All that is gold does not glitter
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.

And then I thought to myself: Self, it is positively uncanny how well that poem describes the underlying theme of our story arc. Self replied, It damn sure is. And then I went to my documents folder, and I looked at the story arc, and I said: "Now I shall give you a name, and I will call you 'The Old That Is Strong.'"

Suddenly I feel a damn sight more excited about this project.

And I will probably feel even more so, once my shiny new beta returns notes on the latest couple of chapters. In the meeeeeeentime, I feel to post a couple of excerpts assuming this blog system doesn't crash when I try to post them. Anybody care for a look-see? I brought cookies....
