I've been a bit gloomy lately.....advice?
Tuesday, April 22, 2008

Maybe its just teenage angst or something....but I have not been my normal cheery self (not that I've ever been very cheery in the first place.)
and its starting to bug me. Anyone have any good advice on how to kick the blues? I'm all ears...erm...eyes...whatever! Thanks.

the Glooms are probably LOOONG gone by now, but I have to say that watching a few of my favorite episodes of Firefly always helps (funny thing that... ) but for the love of god don't watch OiS or The Message, 'cause I always get all sad when I watch those, knowing that the show is over

I realize that the gloom has probably long since passed but the thing that always helps me is breaking out the laptop or a journal and just writing, just getting everything off my chest no matter what it is that happens to be on my mind. The free association totally helps not only to organize your own thoughts but also to vent and just "get it out there." If that makes sense.

Watch some good funny movies and maybe start journalling. I find that putting my thoughts done helps me find just what might be bugging me.

Listen to bagpipe music. Not the mournful kind mind you, but the Scotland the Brave kind or Farewell To Nova Scotia

That's what I do, anyway.

I like to drink Pineapple juice it is like a little bit of liquid sunshine. Speaking of sunshine you can lay out for 20 mins or do one visit to a tanning bed. It will release endorps which as everyone knows make you feel good. I would take the natural sun to the box as it can be addictive because of the massive amounts of endorphins released. Hope you get to feeling better TT.

SISTER

For me, doing something for someone else helps. It takes me out of my own "head." Failing that, try reading a really long, really good book. After I finish one of those, I feel like I've had a real boost. Others I know have had great success with a gratitude journal. Everyday you write down three things that you are grateful for - if it's been a sucky day, you can write that you're grateful it's over - or that the sun was out or that somebody smiled at you - or that you got your laundry done. Just simple things. I hope some of this helps you.
