Alexander von Humboldt. Yup, he's our namesake.

Well, the Shindig formula I came up with relies on a couple of things, the most important of which is a venue, followed by at least a small number of Browncoats who I know will attend.
Fortunately, I work on the campus of Humboldt State University and it is summer (oh, sorry. SUMMERRRRR!), so many rooms are free. I'm also a member of several student clubs and can use the rooms free of charge. The rooms have a computer console with a projector on a big screen (think classroom, not IMAX). This allows for near simultaneous use of CD/DVD player and computer. So I can switch between my Powerpoint trivia game, links to the YouTube Hugo award accepted by Morena Baccarin, Beethoven Shindig music and episodes.
I also like to cook, so I provide bao, dumplings, grenade-free apples (I label them so, in English and Chinese), etc. It's gotten a bit expensive, so I think I'll be asking for more donations to offset the costs. Hm. Do Browncoat groups charge dues? Anyway, that's how I'm starting.

Virtual Shindig? Oooh, sounds shiny! But, I don't know a thing about it. See? I feel I'm just a babe in (red)woods here, but I'm willing and eager to learn.
