When it rains it pours...

After months of nothing... I was hired for a part time job last week and today, I get a call for an interview for a Job I really want. Then I got an e-mail from a buddy who needs a relief driver for the Helicopter company he works for.

If I had a Commercial Driver's license, I'd be all over that one.

I mean, a job where I can combine three of my previous careers along with paid travel all over the USA? What's not to like?

I mean $40 a day per deim, overtime after 8 hours even for travel days, all travel and hotels paid for, driving a one ton truck carrying Jet Fuel (Hence the need for the CDL) Chasing Helitac crews from one forest fire to another...

Thing is, I don't have a CDL or the $3,000 I need to get one.

Oh well.

The interview I'm scheduled combines two of my previous careers. Fire Service and Sales. If I were to get it, I'd be a sales and service tech for a fire extinguisher company.

Until Gordy e-mailed me about the Relief Driver slot, The service tech was my first choice.

Combined with the Part Time Job I landed (They know I'm still looking for full time work) At least something is going right.

Better and better. And I agree with Bytemite - never know until you ask.

You know, if you're really good friends with this guy, or you're perfectly qualified for the job on all aspects except the CDL, it's possible the company might pay for your training. You never know unless you ask... The business might even get a discount on it so it's not so expensive for them, or might pay part of the cost.
