I have a new fic but ......
Monday, October 12, 2009

I have finally gotten my writing mojo back but there's a problem. I have a pretty good Mal/Inara post BDM fic that's been on my hard drive for a while. I have fiddled with it some lately but there are some things bugging me about it.

I really can't get the snarky UST between them to come out. In fact, they are down right civil to each other. And they actually talk to each other. I guess they are still in shock.

Let me know if you guys want to read it but I still have to get it to some conclusion.

AGHHHHH! The brilliant person that said writing is easy has never written anything.

BTW I'm also branching out a little bit. I have written a True Blood fic that's on my LJ (http://fireflyfaninnc.livejournal.com/24584.html and http://www.fanfiction.net) and I'm working on another.

Bill Compton of TB is more than a bit like Mal Reynolds to me in several ways. But that's another blog.

I'll throw my voice in here too and say yes, post it! Always need more Mal/Inara fic, even if it has no conclusion (believe me, I'm the *last* person who'd ever complain about *that*!!)

Yes, yes, and yes. Oh, and in case my meaning didn't come across ... YES. We have to read this. As for the conclusion ... well, you could always make it a two parter and ask for ideas on how it should end!

People (men a momenfolk) are civil to each other the most when they are having sexual relations. Might be a good way to show the nominal period between their personalities. Once they hit a period of tumult the fighting can start again. Let them have their peace, for now... :)

That's how mine started, they were actually civil towards each other and their relationship (whatever that might be) was actually healthier. BUT as i kept writing and got into the flow of the characters Mal was still Mal and Inara was still a Companion and angst and arguing ensued...

If they are TOO civil try throwing in something to shake things up. A person for jealousy, an event where they are thrown together for too long a time or an occasion. Reveal more of their personalities to each other and then if you are really stuck...just go watch an episode and really watch how they interact.

I sound like the biggest script nerd right now hey...

Can't help it, i love it...

Leaving now

I've read plenty of stories where they're civil to each other after the movie, I even played around with it a little myself (before Mal screwed it up). I think the basic reasoning is that maybe, with how near death they came, that maybe they realize it's pointless to pretend anymore.

Post away. :)

Writing is easy, but as the cliche goes, easy writing makes for hard reading.

I think I speak for everyone when I say, yes, we want to read your Mal/Inara goodie. And the fact that there is no conclusion is perfect, in that it mirrors the Mal/Inara relationship.
