Wake of the Albatross
Sunday, November 15, 2009

Well, it's up, finally.

Ladies, Gents, and the rest of you, strap in and hold on tight, because part 1 of the idea I started in on a whole year ago has finally hit the black.
It's the story of River Tam at the infamous Academy, through her diary entries.

I'm only sorry it took so long. Hope those who liked the samples of the "Albatross" are still interested.

So, if you like the (not so)crazy-talk of a certain moonbrain, go take a look. It takes a while to get going (had to get all that Alliance bureaucracy out of the way, which also functions as an introduction), but I hope to have you thoroughly confused by the end of part 1.

Questions, guesses, comments, and wacky extrapolations are absolutely encouraged.

Looks like the formatting took a serious hit, and online editing doesn't help much. It'll be easier later, without all the font-changing the Alliance seems to think necessary.

Thanks to those that have been beta-ing, particularly you, Byte! You've all been a big help.

Yay! I'm so happy for you!! I will definitely read this though it may have to be on december 18th.

I can't post my wonderful shuttle pictures this week. I'm...kind of in a pickle, shall we say. I have an AJAX chat to build after a week of learning AJAX, a programming assignment to do, a flash website to build/design, an Adobe After Effects Tutorial to film/present, co-op cover letter/resume/job description breakdown to write and two flash backgrounds to animate all for Friday.

I'm kinda pressed for time. And a mess because of it.

Sorry about the verbal psychadelic explosion, I can talk normally. Everyone, ignore the scary person and please read AnotherSky's story. It is thinking for the brain food needs.

The cake is joy. And catered. And free.

And serves a celebratory function, yes.

My mind is glut upon the most ecstatic drug of LITERATURE! I'm also slightly crazy.

Uh...Byte? Your mouth is talking, less your mind. Are you...celebrating? Less of the fruity oaties and more of the protein bars, ok?

Cake I think is the only thing that baffles me in your "extrapolation".
Other than you being...how shall I say...one with the (royal) albatross? I meant to thank you for beta-ing by the mention--apparently I also triggered a Joycean acid flashback. No, I'm kidding, the meanings are intended. But calmly.

I'd welcome anyone who has formatting advice.

I will begin by first extrapolating upon your notice message.

By Wake of the Albatross, we (royal we) envision both the concept of the Albatross as a water bird and the ripples it generates while swimming, as well as possibly waking from sleep. Equally possible, the wake before a funeral.

There is also the less likely potentially of this wake being a warning against turning your face skyward.

Take that, humans! Kaw!

Ooh, cake.

Maybe someone might be able to help you with the formatting? I've seen lots of people on these boards who are really good at it. I only use the rudimentary underlines, italics, and bolds.
