If you like seeing the supernatural getting is ass kicked, and if you love humor, then I highly suggest seeing Shawn of the Dead! (Rated R, Now Playing) I saw it yesterday evening, and it was about the funniest movie I’ve ever seen. If you don’t know what the movie is, then I’ll give you a basic synopsis of it. Englishman Shawn goes through life day by day with nothing really exciting happening. He has girl problem, his loser friend Ed is trashing Shawn’s place (and life), and his life is going no where. Then, a strange Virus starts turning the people around Shawn and Ed into zombies! He and Ed must pick up his girlfriend and mom, and get to the safest place in town; the local pub. Thrills and spills ensue. A common thread between Shawn of the Dead, and Firefly, is that even the most down to earth people can become BDH’s. I recommend this movie to anyone and everyone (Who doesn’t mind a good old fashioned Horror/slasher/comedy film)!

Shaun of the Dead is a brilliant movie. Lots of laughs and gore.

I'm probably one of the few Americans to have seen, own and love Spaced (and I think I've singlehandedly converted about 30 people to this show) and I highly recommend that to fans of Firefly/Shaun as well since Simon Pegg, Edgar Wright and a few other Shaun alum were involved on that show too. (The DVDs are available through http://www.sendit.com if you have a regionless player or Trio I beleive is showing the episodes (finally!) here - or if you're really nice and ask, I can send you tapes.)

Also recommended for fans of smart TV and Zombie comedies:

Arrested Development (The first seaosn DVD is comic genius)

Cupid - the dramedy from 1998 (this one you may have to bother me for as it's not out commercially)

Dead Alive - directed by Peter "LOTR" Jackson- another demented zombie film- LOTS of gore, but extremely funny.

I loved Shaun of the Dead. Of course, I love zombie movies in general, but this one has definitely made my top 5. Now I wish I had a little zombie friend chained up in my back yard.
