Channy? Where for art thou?

Here for I art! Oh, where did I go for six years? Well, that's a very long story that I'll sum up here in a few words.

College. I didn't figure out what I wanted to be when I grew up until I turned 35. So I spent April 2004 to June 2009 getting a bachelor's degree in graphic design with a Web design emphasis while working full time and spending the last part of it tag-teaming the care of an aging parent with my siblings.

Yeah... Try it. A watercolor that I did for an illustration project using Nathan Fillion's face is evidence of how I worked Firefly into every quarter of school. Crazy? Well... I was basically going to art school in a crappy economy.

Personal loss. My parents died within two years of each other. Mom died June 1, 2008, six days before my 41st birthday. Dad died a year ago on March 31, eight days after my brother's 40th birthday. That anniversary is coming up.

No, I don't care if you know how old I am. I'll never tell you how much I weigh, though. And if you think I'm too old to feel like an orphan? Think again.

College again, as of October 2010. Web design this time, just an associate's degree because I'm word and design schmawt, not back-end developer schmawt. Thanks to all the credits that transferred in, though, that's five classes in three quarters only - woo! Yup, still working full time.

Starting a freelance graphic design business... yeah, gimme another latte, would'ja?

And yet, through it all, I keep peeking in back here. Not nearly as often as I should, but John Lennon was a true philosopher:

"Life is what happens while you're making other plans."

Amen, bruddah.

It's a sad day when you don't learn something new and there is no such thing as too much schoolin'. Especially when it come to doing something you love and are hopefully good at.

Good on ya.

'Amen, bruddah' I like that. A friend of mine says that, she's about your age too. Great reader as well.

SOULOFSERENITY

Haken made us a playground that's just too good to stay away from for very long. We're the ones that were here long ago, and we'll still be here when the lights go out.
