ohhhhh... baobei - I am SO sorry. gojiro's right - this does truly suck. I got laid off from a job a few years back myself, and when you get laid off from a stock market company, you get someone watching you while you pack up your desk, and you get escorted from the building. Regardless of the circumstances, hearing the words that amount to, "we don't need you here anymore--get out," is pretty tough to take.

Your Livejournal says you're not past it yet - nor should you be. It will take time to get past this, and half a week is not the kind of time I'm talking about. It took me a month to get over it. when my cousin got laid off, she took it as an opportunity to take a breather from a job she hated and take her time finding one she loves - which she did do.

One thing to keep in mind is this:

YOU DIDN'T DO ANYTHING TO DESERVE THIS .

Wait, go back and read that last line again... one more time. Okay. Now, give yourself a little time to get out of the groove of the old job and focus your sights on the new. Work on that resume, eat a little ice cream, take a long, hot bath and let yourself get pruny. Scream. Then Sing. Scream some more if that helps.

I know in my heart that some great shiny company is going to *SNAP* you up in a second and all will be well in the long run. Of that, I have no doubt whatsoever.

Astri, I am so very sorry to hear about your being laid off. I wish that words could make things better, but I know they can only comfort.

I got laid off a few years ago (web programmer), so I can feel for you. Couldn't find a job so here I am, back at University, getting a degree that I have no idea what I'm going to do with (Math). At least it keeps me busy so I don't go mad

I find it great that you have someone that will support you so. With even just that, I have every confidence that you'll be just fine

FF quotes aside, this truly sucks. I've only ever been fired once, and that was just a temp job anyway, but it still turned my world upside down for a few days. But it passed, and this too shall pass.

So keep running. And when you can't run, crawl. And when you can't crawl, we Southern Ohio Browncoats will be there to carry you.
