Missing Scene from Jaynestown. S/K

CATEGORY: FICTION    TIMES READ: 2698    RATING: 7    SERIES: FIREFLY

Disclaimer: Not mine, just writing for fun!

A/N: Leiasky and I decided to write our own different versions of the Canton bar scene when Mal leaves Simon and Kaylee to watch over Jayne. So here's mine. Hope you like it! Kinda PG-13, just a teeny, tiny warning!

_____________________________________________________________________________________

"...Well, I tell you what. Jayne is stuck here with his adoring masses. Why don't you and Simon hang around and keep an eye on him for me?" Simon held up his cup, sloshing its contents inside as he concurred with the captain's idea while Kaylee patted Mal's arm, swaying as she then turned her sloppy grin towards Simon. Simon brought the mug of Mudder's Milk to his lips and smiled as he sipped. He had just been about to tell Kaylee something, he just couldn't remember exactly what it had been. "You're...you know...you...," Simon was trying to get the words out as he motioned towards her but failed miserably, and ended up tapping her hand while he went for another drink. Kaylee nodded and giggled at how drunk Simon had gotten after just a few beers. She on the other hand was doing just fine, or so she thought before her foot slipped off the edge of the chair it had been resting on, sending her falling out of the seat to sprawl across Simon, her mug shattering on the floor. She lifted her head up from his lap as he tried to set his mug down and pull her up by the shoulders. The very thought of her head in his lap, somewhere she had been trying to get for months, swam through her inebriated brain as she laid it back down again, closing her eyes and sighing. "Kaylee, you okay?" Simon's eyes crossed as he looked down at two Kaylee's , both beaming a smile that could outshine a thousand stars, but when she began to nod her head he got a little dizzy. "I think I need a new drink," Kaylee proclaimed as she burst into a fit of giggles, trying to right herself. Simon looked at Kaylee as she pushed her head out of his lap and then back to the floor where her mug lay in shards, the Mudder's Milk seeping into the dirt floor. He looked up into her glazed eyes and nodded, "Definitely.” Simon straightened up out of the chair and helped Kaylee off the floor, holding her hand tightly as he swayed from the exertion, “But, first we should find less dangerous seating.” She nodded her approval at his ingenious thinking and noticed the small bench near the back of the bar, it facing the wall instead of the entrance and smiled lazily as she tugged his arm, pulling him through the crowd who were now starting in on another round of “The Man They Call Jayne”. Simon’s lip twitched as he shut his eyes. His one hand was occupied with holding onto his mug and the other firmly planted in Kaylee’s grip. Neither one he wanted to give up on, otherwise he would have gladly shoved two fingers in his ears to keep out the chorus of the folk song, the crowd breaking into a sway as they continued on in their singing. "They gave him a song and a statue?" Simon mumbled to no one in particular. When he opened them he noticed the greasy hand print splayed across Kaylee's backside as she tugged him along. He let his mind drift on the thought of where that handprint exactly was and practically knocked over the object of his ponderings. As he sputtered to a stop, his Mudder's Milk washed over the side of his mug, dousing the top of Kaylee's coveralls. The small shriek that escaped her lips as she hunched her shoulders at the liquid assault sobered Simon up a little bit. "Kaylee! Oh God! I am so sorry!" She had let go of Simon's hand and turned around with, shaking her head as she shrugged out of the sopping wet garment, letting the top of her coveralls fall to her hips. "S'all right Simon, it's meant ta get dirty," Kaylee admonished, her words slurring just a little bit more as she plunked down on the bench and reached out for Simon's hand, pulling him to sit across from her. He sat with his back against the armrest, facing Kaylee as she pulled up her legs to rest underneath her. In the dim light of the bar Simon became aware of how Kaylee's light brown hair turned all different shades of gold and red, her eyes twinkling as she noticed he was staring at her, again. "I...here, you should finish this...since yours is, "Simon motioned to the floor back where they had been sitting, to the broken mug that still laid in shards. She smiled brilliantly as she accepted the drink from him, wrapping her hands around the mug, her fingers gently brushing against his own. As she lifted it to her lips to take a sip Simon let out a breath he hadn't known he'd been holding. "You are..." "Me?" This sent them both into a fit of laughter at Simon's inability to sentence properly. He blushed at his own awkwardness and nodded his head, “Yes, you are.” She finished her sip and rested the mug on her knees, watching as Simon relaxed a little more, leaning back into the bench. Simon’s head lolled to the left as she leaned a little forward, her hair falling over her shoulders, her eyes twinkling with mischief, “You are too.” He chuckled under his breath as another of his swai smiles graced his face, “I am what?” “You’re...” Kaylee licked her lips, her cheeks rising up as she squinted her eyes, trying to focus on Simon’s face and get the word out. She cocked her head to one side and then leaned in further, her body shifting across the bench. She was mere inches away from his lips, her pert nose wrinkling as she came in closer, “jun.” Simon smiled at the compliment, his blush rising up over his collar, “I...thank you.” Kaylee kept her face as close as possible to his and waited, but the shy doctor couldn’t move. “Simon?” “Yes?” “You should kiss me.” Her words were definitive and left no room for argument. Simon nodded his head yes as she moved even closer, her lips brushing against his own, sending a shiver down his spine. He had begun to move his hands up to her face when she swayed from the drink, her body lurching dangerously close to falling off the bench. “Oh!” Kaylee cried out as the mug slipped from her grip, falling onto the floor as Simon’s hands grasped her shoulders and pulled down on top of his chest, hugging her tightly in his effort to keep her from falling. Her face rested against his shoulder as he let up his arms, resting them along her lower back as she snaked her hands up to rest on his chest, snuggling in as she sighed in his embrace, “Thank you, Simon.” She then lifted her head up off his shoulder and turned it to face his neck, her lips pressing a soft kiss to the flesh there. Simon sucked in his breath at the contact, his eyes hazing over at the lust that shot through his body. He removed his hands from her lower back and lifted them up to cup her face, pulling her lips away from their ministrations to plant them firmly against his own. Kaylee closed her eyes when Simon deepened the kiss, her fingers gently undoing the buttons on his vest and pushing it aside. He entangled his hands in her hair as he pulled back for air, his breath coming in a great pant as Kaylee let out a soft moan form the loss of contact. “Oh Simon!” Her words were soft but excited as she bit her lower lip, her eyes lazily opening as Simon moved one hand out of her hair, caressing her cheek as he ran a thumb across her lips. Kaylee sucked in her breath at the intimate act, fueling the fire in her belly. She giggled when he pulled her forward again, nipping at her lower lip, sucking it gently. Kaylee grabbed the fabric of his shirt, twisting it in her hands as she shifted her body up, pressing her hips against his as she lifted his shoulders away from the armrest they had been laying on. Simon moved his hands away from her face and hair to hold her waist, the exposed flesh soft and warm as he grasped her firmly. She squealed against his lips at the touch of his fingers against her skin, exciting her even more. She frantically undid the buttons of his shirt and then pulled away from his lips, trailing fluttery kisses along his cheek. Simon leaned back again against the armrest as she slid her body up further against his own, pressing her breasts into his chest, moving her lips to his neck. He took in a contented breath as she kissed that spot right behind his ear, then moved a little lower, nuzzling his neck with her nose. He brought up his hands up underneath her shirt, pushing the fabric up as he explored the soft skin hidden beneath. Kaylee let out a little groan as he ran his fingers along her ribs, tickling the flesh. He closed his eyes as she snaked her arms around his chest, holding him tightly as she pressed more light kisses to his neck. It was lulling and sensual, something he hadn’t felt for a very long time. He blew out a slow breath and basked in the moment. He was about to move his hands from beneath Kaylee’s shirt to pull her up for another kiss when he heard a sound he was truly not expecting. He looked down to see Kaylee’s angelic face, her eyes closed and her mouth slightly open, her breaths slow and even. A little tiny snore escaped from her as she snuggled into his arms, her chest rising and then falling with the effort. Simon sighed at his most terrible luck, he finally gets a pretty girl in his arms and she passes out on him, at a most inopportune time. He pulled her in tighter, his one arm encircling her waist and the other holding her underneath her knee, keeping her steady as he fought to keep his eyes open, the Mudder’s Milk finally taking it’s effect. As inclined as he was to insurrection, he realized with a pang of regret tonight would not be the night, and just hoped he would remember everything in the morning.

I loved this story. The thing that I loved about the S/K in that episode, was that Whedon left it open. I mean we had the rest of the night worth of happenings. Loved your spin on this idea.

Guess this scenario makes Kaylee's ire that much more understandable when Mal comes along the next morning and Simon gets all "Nothing happened!"

:P

Loved this, Leigh! Can't wait for Leiasky's and any other missing scenes you wanna conjure up;)

TAMSIBLING

Well, well, well, the two of them seem to have the worst luck ... first Simon is a boob, then Kaylee passes out from the alcohol - I believe this is really a cautionary tale on the evils of mudder's milk!

But I love the fact that they got this "far" and that everything really did seem to be "going so well." Like star-crossed lovers or somesuch - they just need to get their act together! I love your take on this!

RIVERISMYGODDESS

Very hot stuff, and I liked that Kaylee fell asleep on Simon instead of the other way around like most other writers who I have seen tackle the subject seem to do.

"This sent them both into a fit of laughter over Simon's inability to sentence properly."??? How much Mudder's Milk did you have,
mmmmm???? ;-) Really, a funny story on the missing scene from Jaynestown. Maybe you could do one on how they finally got River out of hiding?
