The plot of a season 3 or 4 episode, in song

CATEGORY: FILK    TIMES READ: 2283    RATING: 9    SERIES: FIREFLY

The following song is based on a song based on a http://www.echoschildren.org/CDlyrics/ANNIE.HTML”>Babylon 5 roleplaying character. This song tells the story of a Firefly episode, perhaps in season 3…

EDIT: A couple lines changed to reflect the point of view of the singer.

Chorus

Bridget loves her freedom, Yolanda treasure chests

And Saffron loves that smuggler man she never quite can best

And if the Feds can catch her, it’s prison or the Guild

‘stead of the Black’s expanses she’ll look out on her windowsill

She’d tried to con us several times, each time we got away

But there was something different, when we met her today

She didn’t come a’scheming, she didn’t ply her trade

Instead she came on bended knee and asked us for our aid

Chorus

We know Saffron very well, and so it’s no surprise

to find her now a’fleeing from a mission gone awry

She’s killed Hera’s Governor, who took her to his bed

Just as she finishes her tale, we’re cornered by the Feds

Chorus

If only Wash were living, he’d try one of his tricks

But I can’t do things like that yet, so now we’re in a fix

Jayne asks if we can sell her, but the Captain, he demurs

‘til speaks a veiled Companion, who demands to question her

Chorus

The Fed turns over Saffron to the Companion’s care

We fear that now he’ll search our ship but ta ma deh we’re spared

I can’t but pity Saffron, the others don't agree

But I know what she's going through, a fugitive like me

Chorus

Now unveils the Companion, and before us ‘Nara stands

And softly speaks to Saffron, as they try to understand

“I’ll tell them you escaped me,” her voice in my head rings

“After what they did to me, I don’t owe the Guild a thing”

Chorus

The Guild Council is furious, and likewise are the feds

For Saffron’s in no training house, but with our ship has fled

Jayne calls her a Po-fu, Simon’s like to start a row

But there ain’t nothing to be done, she’s our Po-fu now

Clarissa loves her freedom, that’s what she’s made her name

She’s still making trouble but it’s not the same

She and Mal both get along, well, at least they try

It’s been weeks since he’s threatened to drop her from the sky
