ok i know i posted my starting painting of river Emotional influence just a couple of weeks ago, but i love how its turning out so far and yet again wish to show yall how its going... remember that this is still undergoing painting and i know i still have lots'a flaws but i would like honest comments......

The likeness is much better this time and the blending is smoother but her mouth is still a bit funky, especially on our left. Wonderful expression though. I can't wait for the finished product.

And I'm not sure how I want to score it because it's not done so I'll leave it with the comment for now.

Sorry for the double post but I forgot to say something, I was sure I put it in but...
Anyway, I wanted to say that shading and blending have obviously commenced wich help immensely. The last one was kinda freaky but there is ussually a stage in most painting that just looks wrong and wierd. Lot's of folks give up at that point, good on you that you kept with it.

i know the lip is kinda wierd i was trying to make it look like she was biting the inside of her lip... i felt it made her seem more afraid... but maybe i should have been more congruent with the screen snap im basing the image from...

KAYNA


I got the biting the lip thing and I like it for the emotionality of the piece but it's hard to do. When you bite your lip like that it doesn't just pull on the inside of you lip. It usually pulls up the outside edge as well and can also pull down the corner of the moputh, depending on how much of the lip the are biting. Look at youself doing it in a mirror while you work on the painting for some reference, or get a couple of photos of friends do it. It might help.
