Personally, I think the sorta unfinished nature of the pic sells it better cuz of Mal's mood and the quality of lighting for that shot in the movie:D

I have to say this is not my favorite way to see Mal; for one thing it breaks my heart to see him in such torment. But that in itself is a tribute to great artwork; that it can make one feel. And the power of Serenity and Firefly, and his character, draws a lot from those desperately hard, bitter experiences of suffering through "the losing side." So while this kinda hurts to look at, it's also a very true piece of art. You keep flying, okay Mike?
