Dear Buddha, make me a stone.

Make me not smell the others on her. Heat and lust and ownership, clinging on her skin.

Make me not hear their sounds inside my head as they get in their thrusts. Make me not hear hers.

Make me not taste their sweat on her. Bitter and acrid on my tounge in all her secret spots that are supposed to be just for me.

Make me not see the marks they leave on her perfect skin. Make me not want to leave my own so that they know who she really belongs with.

Make me not trace those marks with my fingertips. Wanting to damage them for the damage they do to her.

Dear Buddha, make me a stone. Make me not care.

I'm not a big poetry fan, but I really liked this look inside Mal's head. He just can't get over the fact that what Inara does with her clients in no way affects her feelings for him. But still ... a beautiful piece of insight.
