I'm not in the least bit religious except for that my parents are, so I know the stories, but don't actually believe them. I like this story, its not all that poetic but it gets the idea across.

CATEGORY: FILK    TIMES READ: 2206    RATING: 7    SERIES: FIREFLY

God made the world. It was to be his greatest creation and was to take away the loneliness of the strange chaos with no other beings. The world and the creatures that roamed it's surface were not enough to satiate his driving need for companionship. So, god thought on it for a while, and created man. For a short time. god and man were happy. But one day man sickened and he himself became lonely. So god. seeing his beloved creation was as lonely as he had been, took pity on him and made him a mate. God made woman. TO ensure that his two creations would not give in to temptation, god put a tree in the middle of the garden with the most wonderful fruit, the most delicious. And he said to Adam, the man, and Eve, the woman.

" I have placed many wonderful trees with succulent fruit for you in the garden called Eden. You may eat from any tree except the one in the very center of the garden, for if you do, I shall turn my back on you and you shall be cast out of the garden."

For a long time, neither Adam, nor Eve approached the tree. Until one day, Eve went to look at the tree and met the snake.

"These fruit are so good," said the snake,"Please, try one."

"I dare not," said Even "For if I do, God will tun his back on me."

"God does not see all." said the snake, and handed Eve two fruits.

She ate one and gave the other to her mate. As they ate the forbidden fruit, they became aware of there nakedness, and of the wild animals around them. God, for his part, saw them eat the fruit and in his rage cast them out of Eden. As they left Paradise Garden, the first couple stole fruit from every tree they pasted, so as to spite there creator. They crouched outside the wall, and gorged on fruit, until there bodies sickened from the excess of it. And they puked them up. And the seeds of the fruit spilled into the dirt. And from those seeds came the mosters of the world. Born in filth. Who never knew there was such a thing as love.

Wow...guess I really need to re-read Genesis. Cuz I don't recall the puking bit. Lots of "begats" but no vomiting to create evil...
