Chapter 11

“What you talking about Preacher?” Jayne asked looking puzzled. “If you and Maggie were.. intimate, then there is no annulment. I’ll just go tell the Captain that you two are still married. You.. two.. do still want to be married don’t you?” Maggie waited for Jayne to answer. “Hell yes!” holding Maggie in his arms “You still want me?” Jayne asked more then a little worried of her answer. “Yes.” She answered, she smiled at the grin he gave her. “Book, do we have to tell the Captain? You know how he feels about things like this. You weren’t there when Zoë and Wash started fooling around, he made their life Hell.” Jayne looked at him and pleaded “Just give us some time to get use to the idea our self. Then we can tell him later, much, much later.” Maggie’s not sure what to think, she doesn’t want to sneak around, but she can tell that Jayne is really worried about the Captain knowing. The door opened and Inara entered “Maggie, You and Jayne need to be seen at dinner. Mal is getting a little suspicious about Jayne missing a meal.” She noticed the smiles on their faces “You also might want to stop grinning like fools. I take it things got worked out?” “Yeah, seems we’re still married.” Maggie answered, hugging Jayne's arms that are around her waist “But we’re not going to tell the Captain, not right now anyway.” “Probably a good idea.” Inara said taking Maggie’s hand “You two still need to head out to the fire.” Having said that she led Maggie out the door, leaving Book and Jayne talking. “You sure about this Jayne, marriage is a big commitment?” Book inquired, looking at Jayne as he watched Maggie leave. “Yeah, Book I’m sure. I know I give Wash and Zoë a hard time, but when we get back from a job and he’s there to meet her, I get, I don’t know, angry. That I’ll never have anyone to greet me like that. Hell, Kaylee’s the closest thing to family I got around here.” Jayne answered “We better go on down, ‘sides I’m getting hungry.” Jayne and Book arrived at the table just as Kaylee brought their steaks over. The rest had finished eating and wandered off. Maggie, Inara, Book, Jayne and Mal are the only ones left. Wash was trying to coax Zoë into the lake and River and Kaylee were pleading with Simon for the same thing. “Go on Simon, we’ll clean up, you three did all the cooking only fair we do all the cleaning. Right folks?” Mal asked the group sitting around him, expecting a gripe from Jayne, but not getting one. “Sound fair to me.” Book answered for the group. Jayne and Maggie are still in a daze and Inara is amazed at the change in Jayne already. Never knew there was civility in him, just needed someone for it to come out. River and Kaylee gave up asking Simon and were getting ready to just toss him in. He was stronger then he looked and they were having some trouble. “Need some help there Lil’ Kaylee?” Jayne asked as he finished his steak. Mal stared at him with a puzzled look. Kaylee’s a little puzzled too, but she needed the help “Sure, he is surprisingly strong.” “Mal you feel like giving Kaylee a hand?” Jayne stood up and headed for the lake “I’m thinking of helping Wash out.” “You must have a death wish if you’re thinking of tossing Zoë in.” Mal laughed as he walked towards Kaylee and River “How about we get Simon in first and then tackle Zoë together.” This is the part of life he likes, hearing Kaylee and River squeal when Simon got away, he ran right into Jayne’s arms. “Where you want him Kaylee?” Jayne picked Simon up and tossed him over his shoulder. “Right here on the dock.” Kaylee laughed, Jayne loved to hear her laugh. By now everyone was down by the lake, they watched Mal and Jayne herd Simon to the edge of the dock. Finally River ran to him and jumped into his arms causing both of them to fall into the water. Kaylee was only a half second behind the pair. “Your turn Zoë!” Mal yelled out as he and Jayne headed over to her and Wash. “Why you giving her a warning? Surprise was our best chance.” Jayne looked at Mal. “Doesn’t seem fair not to, beside I’ve known Zoë a long time, we sneak up on her she’s libel to take our heads off without even knowing she’s doing it.” “Not sure you want to do that Captain, Jayne’s right, surprise was you best chance.” Zoë stood on the edge of the dock and was holding Wash at arms length. “Might want to drop your gun before we toss you in Zoë.” Mal said while he dropped his own belt and stopped to take off his boots. Jayne followed right behind him, dropping his own stuff. Wash carefully unbuckled her belt and whispered “You take Jayne and I’ll hold Mal off until you can help me toss him in.” Zoë was barely able to keep the smirk off her face as Mal and Jayne came towards her. They came at her from two different angles, and as Wash stepped in Mal’s way, Zoë was able to concentrate on Jayne, who had been counting on Mal to grab her from the other side. Jayne was not quite the pushover Zoë thought he would be and both of them ended up in the water. Wash laughed until Mal tossed him in next to his wife “Guess I’m King of the hill.” he said, he was laughing so hard he didn’t hear Inara come up from behind and with one big push she sent him in “Does that make me Queen of the hill?” she asked sweetly. Book and Maggie walked up next to her “Hail to the queen.” they both chanted. By now the crew was in a water brawl, making a game out of it. They had the ability to make a game out of anything. While they were choosing up sides, Maggie, Inara and Book went back to cleaning up. “They are like children.” Inara laughed, picking up the last dishes from the table and handed them to Maggie. They could hear the screams and laughter, Maggie smiled to herself, part of her wanted to be in the water with them, she had not had much chance for play like that while growing-up. She dutifully cleaned the dishes and took them back to the house. Slowly, a few at a time, the water warriors came back to the fire to dry off. Maggie gave them all towels she had brought from the house. Finally it was just Mal and Jayne that were missing. Maggie started to walk down to the lake, when Mal met her and asked for some soap for Jayne. Seemed he wanted to wash his clothes while they were wet. Maggie returned to the lake with the soap, to find Jayne all alone. She walked to the end of the dock and tossed the soap to him. She gathered up her dress she sat down on the end of the dock and put her feet in the water. “Doing some washing? I’ve a few things that need cleaning.” She said looking at him in the water. Jayne had taken off all his clothes and was running the soap over his shirt. He looked up at her “Well, just toss them over and I’ll do ‘em for you.” He tried hard not to stare at her. The realization that he was naked and that she was his wife, brought all sorts of thoughts to his head. He finished up with his socks, swam over to the dock and laid them out next to his pants. He swam over to Maggie and grabbed her by the foot. “You coming in?” he asked, trying not to sound like he was begging. “Wasn’t planning on….” She had to stop when Jayne put her toes in his mouth and sucked on them. He looked her in the eyes the whole time, he finished with her foot and placed one hand on either side of her, putting his body between her legs. He pushed himself up and claimed her mouth in a kiss. He held him self up as long as he could and made the most out of the kiss. When he finally fell back, she followed his kiss into the water. He put his arms around her waist and swam to the other side of the lake, never letting go of her mouth. Maggie had wrapped her arms around his neck and let her legs float behind her. When they reached the sandy beach on the other side Jayne stopped in a sitting position, the water lapping at his chest. He slowly pulled Maggie’s legs around his hips, he gently moved her dress out of the way and was surprised that she had no underwear on, ‘til he remembered their hasty retreat from the bedroom. He slowly lowered her down until she was nesting in his lap, he felt her breath on his neck and heard the moan she let out when he was all the way in. She started to rock in his lap as he kissed her neck and every thing else the water didn’t cover. He had wanted to turn her over and pound into her fast and quick, that’s what he was use to, “Slam-bam-pay-the-Ma’am”. Then he realized he could just take his time and enjoy her. He let things build slow, until he thought he would pass out from the pleasure. He had to keep kissing Maggie to keep her from making to much noise, but that was alright, he had found new level of lust within her mouth. After what felt like hours, Jayne realized they would soon be missed and brought them both to climax with a shifting of his hips. When they were both spent, he shifted onto his back and slowly swam to the dock, still locked together. Jayne was thinking this marriage thing ain’t half bad, Had a great big steak and bedded Maggie twice in two hours. When they reached the dock, Jayne heard Mal call down to him, He hid Maggie under the dock and lifted himself up to his clothes. “Thought maybe you drowned?” Mal said as he walked onto the dock. “Naw, just cleaning my clothes and waiting for them to dry.” Jayne answered picking up his damp pants. “See Maggie brought you the soap, good. Thinking you just got time to run into Aberdeen for the night, Wash said on the mule it should only take about 30 Minutes. Be back by morning, we got lots of stuff to move.” Mal took one last look around and turned to head back to the ship. Jayne waited until Mal had gone into Serenity and then helped Maggie out of the water, handing her the towel to dry off. “Why would Mal think you want to go into town?” Maggie asked drying off her dress and glad her hair had stayed dry. Jayne wasn’t sure how to answer her “Well….. he’s thinking… I might need to go whoring.” He looked at her from behind his shirt “Remember he don’t know about us.” “You going?” Maggie asked in as strong a voice as she could muster. “Well… I’ll have to head out towards town, like I am, then I can double back.” Jayne said thinking out loud “ain’t no way I’m paying for it….. ” He slipped his arm around her waist and pulled her in for a kiss. When he saw the look on her face he realized what he had said “Maggie, hell I ain’t no good at words…. “ “Best you keep you mouth shut then.” Maggie leaned into him and kissed him “I’ll be waiting in the barn.” with that she walked off to the house. Jayne just watched her, thinking how lucky he was, then he headed to the ship to get the mule.
