The Race: Nathan Fillion versus a Fanboy
Tuesday, August 25, 2009

This is a rerun, but repeats are still funny. The Race, a five part comic, starts at http://xkcd.com/577/ It was discussed in May, 2009 and again in August at http://www.fireflyfans.net/mthread.asp?b=2&t=38113 http://www.fireflyfans.net/mthread.asp?b=17&t=39674 The comment after each part can be seen by hovering over the original panels at xkcd.com. The "Wayne Coyne hamster ball incident" refers to the Flaming Lips concerts: http://xkcd.com/211/ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJJeySSf2sk

Slightly related to the above is "Nerd Fight!" from http://www.thecorrectness.com/movies/nerd-fight/
The Correctness presented a list of provocative phrases that, when uttered in the presence of nerds, will guarantee an argument. The ultimate phrase is, "Firefly lasted 14 episodes too long." The Correctness wishes you good luck in your nerd-baiting:
"No show in recent memory has sparked more discussion among the fanboys than Joss Whedon’s 'Firefly'. Fans of the show loved it for its attractive cast, irreverent attitude and snappy dialogue. Detractors hated it for its use of the 'space western' genre, and mostly the way the fans of the show seem to drool on endlessly about it. If your luck is good, and the beer is strong, and the moon is full, you may be lucky enough to have this argument reach physical combat. And nothing, not even a redneck bar fight, is more fun to watch than Poindexter and Milton duking it out over Nathan Fillion."
