Some mighty awesome work by Ms. Knight, I must say, since it's vague enough that non-femmeslash fans can like this shot as well :D

Uh... rare? That's not particularly consistent with my observations. Sure, Jayne/River outnumbers most any other pairing focus, but there's probably a Kaylee/Inara fic posted somewhere on the internet every other week.

It's a good picture, though. I can actually imagine Inara being more lenient in her no servicing crew rule with Kaylee and Zoe; it's with the men on the crew that there's unfortunate implications. I doubt the men would complain over much about the double standard, though, even - and ESPECIALLY - Wash and Mal.

Love the art, but this shows more of an "intimate" side to their relationship (I mean intimate as in sexually intimate)
than I believe there was in the show. I always got the impression, from the entire crew, that Kaylee was more like a little sister, especially from Inara. That was made clear from the outset in the Pilot. With the exception of Simon, of course. This is not to say that Kaylee is not a sexual being, she is, it's just that I don't feel Inara would think to "service" her (or Zoe). That's just my thought on it. Having said that, I love the art.

Hey, it's not "service" if it's on her own time. ;)

I could totally see Inara and Kaylee spending some quality non-man time together. Both are sexually liberated females. I think it would have been an inevitability if not a foregone conclusion. I reference episode 1...

KAYLEE: "Hey you."
INARA: "Hey you."

With all the sultry overtone in that...yeah, I think it happened. If you don't think so, I encourage you to watch it again...listen to their voices, look at the looks in their faces. Just sayin'. ;)
