Calvin & Hobbes / HGG - A Tribute
Friday, March 18, 2005

So, I recently had an urge to go through my old Calvin & Hobbes books the other day and I found this comic that just begged to be edited. I realize that the reference doesn't exactly fit with HGG, but I thought it was fun enough to be done. On an additional note, for all those C&H fans out there, I recently learned that a complete collection of Bill Watterson's classic strip is being made into a 3 book hardcover collection (much like Gary Larson's 'Far Side' was done). The amazon link is: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0740748475/qid=1111179925/sr=8-1/ref=pd_csp_1/103-4710689-9030267?v=glance&s=books&n=507846

OK, so to explain the acronym...'HGG' stands for "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy"...the radio show/book 'trilogy'/tv show/upcoming motion picture based on the creative genius of Douglas Adams. If you aren't familiar with the story, then the '42' reference in the altered comic above has no meaning...but that doesn't mean the strip can't be enjoyed on its own merits.

My Serenity DVD Cover - Courtesy of Jon Kolton
Unfortunately, I couldn't wait for the hires version of 11th Hour's DVD cover, so I used the one provided by Jon Kolton over at the movie boards.

Halloween Prop - Crow's Knife
Here is Crow's knife that I made for Halloween this year. It is constructed from a 1-1/2 inch pine dowel, spray paint, and some black grip take.

Responce to Request by alarson17
I am posting this image in responce to alarson17's request for a larger Serenity outline. I found this pic a while back and really have no idea who to give credit for this. Anyone have a guess where it came from?

Firefly & Star Wars - Character Comparison #3
...last one I had time for last night. I am sure there are tons more that I am missing, but these few were more than enough to kill the hour between 'The Simpsons' the 'The Inside'.

Firefly & Star Wars - Character Comparison #2
...a few more comparisons...

Firefly & Star Wars - Character Comparison #1
Last night, while waiting for 'The Inside' to come on, I was amusing myself by watching Ep IV on my 'puter and I couldn't help but ponder the similiarties between certain characters in The Holy Trilogy and our BDH's. This resulted in the following series of images. (I think a few of these have been pointed out before, but I still had fun putting together the screencaps!)

Boston Screening - Panoramic Image
Here is a nifty panoramic I took of the Browncoats who showed up early to the Boston screening of Serenity. Us lucky few got to sit in a carpeted queue area (as opposed to the tiled variety enjoyed by the majority of fans in line). Give a shout-out if you see yourself or someone you know here...

Boston Screening - Public Notice
Here was the notice that was on display at the May 5th screening of Serenity in Boston.

As many have reported, there were film crews at most of the screenings and this sign made sure that anyone caught on camera could be put on the DVD release of the BDM.

Sean & Morena @ The Boston Screening
Here are a couple of our so very pretty BDH's signing leaflets at the Boston screening. Even after writing some 600+ autographs, they still were up for exchanging kind words with fellow Browncoats...truly a wonderful evening.

Calvin & Hobbes / Serenity - Another Tribute
I don't mean to make a regular thing of this, but upon further perusing of my old books, I found another strip that I couldn't resist changing. I tried to keep the alterations minimal, so the dialogue and other panels remain the same as before. Remember, 'The Complete Calvin and Hobbes' is coming to bookstores sometime in the (hopefully) near future. Keep you eyes peeled!
