"Reavers sing, are ya listenin'?

In the Black tears are glistenin'.

A terrible sight they're huntin' tonight

Lookin' for a feast out of men.

Tried to warn purplebellies

Wouldn't listen to my yellin'

Till they saw with their eyes

Nightmares too real to be denied.

In the Black danger keeps a comin'

Looking for a job to keep us runnin'

Gotta keep my crew fed and watered

Shiny ship and just as shiny quarters.

Now I hear ya scoff an' laughin'

Got a Preacher, Whore and have been

Hidin' fugees I know

Alliance would show

No mercy if they caught us in the Black.

Now Kaylee is my one and true salvation

Her laughter and good heart an inspiration

Wouldn't tell her just how much I love her

Nor let another body be her brother.

The doc, now he's a learnin'

A life of crime, he's a turnin'

That three percent brain

Makes Ariel tame

Keeps us flying an' almost sane.

As for Wash, he's our shiny pilot

Zoe calls them all my freaks, I guess so

Once were men before tinkerin'

With an evil so foul

Which is why we keep a movin' in the Black.

Little River's really quite disturbin'

All the damage in her brain that's hurtin'

I would give a lot to help her brother

Keep her safe and cure her of her trouble.

In the Black we have freedom

What we lack we can't feed on

The feast that we got

Is our friendship and not

Pretty baubles hanging on a tree.

Now I know my crew think I am stingy

Not dressin' up my boat for a shindig

No coloured lights or fancy trimmin's

Living free is my idea of winning.

But they'll know when they wake up
