Best seen as a whole (well, it's the only way to see anything at all I'm afraid at this size).

It is one of your best works in my eyes, mainly because you used a more classical drawing technique.

This might by why I’ll always be a writer and never a film maker but I have to say although it looks cool and it makes River out to be threatening, there is absolutely no reason from a character point of view for River to be looking at Simon like that after she has been forced hit him. River the character would be feeling somewhat guilty, if not openly apologising before getting on with the task at hand. But from the movie maker POV this is not River the character this is River the monster.

Same goes for the hero shot really. River would not be standing there, striking a pose, letting the blood drip from her blades in a pseudo sexual manner. She would be going to see if Simon is ok. That was what she was fighting for after all. But scenes are completely out of character and make no sense from River POV. The only make sense from the eyes of a film maker.

I find it all very interesting.

Haze, I agree with your comments on this scene, but I have to disagree with some of your thoughts about the "hero shot."
River wouldn't need to run over to see that Simon was OK--she could feel it from his mind.
Also, the threat wasn't over--she knew that the Alliance troops would be arriving very soon.
Plus, as you mentioned, it was a kicking-awesome shot and could not be dispensed with for any reason.

I still contend that the hero shot is out of character. When I see its I see cool for the sake of cool not something emanating from Rivers personal motivations.

Just my opinion of coarse.
