Quick study? Are you kidding?

Looks pretty good, just the mouth looks a little awkward.

oh my I love the brush-work on that!
Almost has kind of that 70's pulp comic look...

I love this em...somehow this just seems more 'you' than the sepia...I mean the sepia is awesome, but you come out in the ink ones...you're style and flair really shine through.

I agree with gyspylife. This style brings in so much more interpretation. In my oppinion, the sepia images look like they are just photoshoped movie stills. It's a credit to your talent that they come out that way, but I don't it as much.

Also, I have a request. Do you think you could do one of River's sarcastic expressions from the BDM? (Such as when Simon said, "Am I talking to Miranda now?") It seems like everyone draws the same five expressions of River, and I'd like to see something different. (I loved "Bad Day").

@cherry

I don't think you can make that kind of sepia art through Photoshop filters without hours and hours of refining.

To cherrybomb I was just gonna do that scene..Just trying to decide which way to go . Thanks for the comments..This style feels less restrictive and comes easier to me...but there is something to be said for the details on the sepia style....

I just gotta chime in with love for the sepia. They are by far my favorite Firefly art; I love that they look so professional. Different tastes and all, but I prefer them. This one is very shiny though! It's a great job capturing the scene, but the others just look so perfect and professional.

MISSTRESSAHARA

I think the sepia ones are my favorite, but these come across like the crew itself. Personal. Does that make sense? Always a fan Phillips.

Glory be!!!

I like this style a lot, it's new, bold, fresh, HEROIC!!! (big damn heroic!) like Misstressahara said, it comes off as personal! I likes!

Beautiful, understated and elegant. And yet so complex.
Very much like Inara herself really.
Marvellous character study.
