Do you do these free-style? 'Cause damn! I love realistic art, and yours is fantastic.

Yep. Hand drawn by hand on cason paper from a screen cap. The whites are conte crayon and the darks are graphite. The original is about 10 x 14 and somewhat lighter... thanks for the compliments...

I like this a lot. The angle is really unique, looks a lot harder to pull off than most Mal shots. Kudos to you.

M, the minute I saw it listed I knew which pic I was going to see when I opened it up. I clapped my hand over my mouth whispering OMG, OMG because it is just breathtaking.

My next new mphillips desktop!

How do you capture his eyes just right? It's uncanny how you can do that. Wow.

I won't pump up your ego anymore as I'm sure you've heard it all. You are a wonderful artist and I want to be sure that I'm on the catalog list should you ever start selling your stuff

You have inspired me to start drawing again (albeit badly), but hey...lol...I know I'm never going to be mphillips...as long as I know what my drawings are of, that's all that matters...but I draw something and say...you know..I'm much better at writing...lol

and yes...this is my new wallpaper, replacing the last mphillips wallpaper I had...

I'm so tempted to make this my wallpaper. Quite frequently, when I'm complimented on how nice I am, I reply with "No I'm not, I'm a mean old man" or some variant thereof.

But, y'see, I've got that wonderful drawing of the ship you drew me. It's torture!

Oh...my...God! That is fantastic, and so are you! How on earth is it even possible that you draw my beloved Mal so well? And how you do it in such a short time amazes me. You absolutely must start making prints. Your work is amazing.....you are the only artist I have ever considered myself a fan of. I never used to check this area, now I do it almost daily to see your new work.

Your Mals are great, but I am still waiting for a beatiful Inara in sepia...

(The recent one with the sponge was not that perfect, see my comment there).

You...friend...
You're the guy.

I know he was talking about a rain stick but I was just about as incoherent. Thanks for giving me my Mal fix for the day!

You always capture the expression so wonderfully. Whenever I draw faces (not anymore, thank goodness, wouldn't want the world to have to suffer through my art) I rely on the eyes to convey the expression. I'm very impressed that in a shot like this where the eyes are mostly hidden you still convey the mood perfectly. Thanks!

Well, if we never get another movie I'll just have to rely on the stories you tell through your art. I love drawing myself, but portraits are not my thing, I think I mentioned that. But you do inspire.

Oh Captian....

Absolutely, stunningly beautiful! Wow, I am blown away by how utterly fabulous this study of Mal is. You have really captured not only his expression but his eyes and that is a difficult thing to do. Oh wow, how I would love to be able to buy a print of this and hang it on my gorram wall! Sigh. Thanks seem such puny reward for such greatness. Ali D :~)
